Ikea Malm bed or something else? Please recommend

DD 11 is getting her room decorated and has decided her mid sleeper bed is too babyish and a double bed is "the" thing to have! A few friends have recommended ikea beds and in particular malm. However the reviews online are pretty mixed with some reviews saying it's pretty squeaky which would not be good with an 11 year old who is likely to throw herself on it!
Does anyone have any recommendations of suitable beds that aren't too expensive (hoping to pay roughly £200 for the frame and probably around £100 or so for mattress) and are quite robust? it would need to be either high enough to put boxes underneath or have drawers built in.
Thanks

I have had a few ikea beds. They are brilliant as long as you don’t take them down. Once you do the squeak kicks in and it never goes back to being the same bed. I would recommend unless you are thinking about moving soon!

We've got the king-size Malm. We are both morbidly obese. OK, there's no gymnastics happening here (long explanation) but the fact it's still going strong after all this time is a miracle, and we've not had squeaky issues (only from my old mattress which we want to replace, it's ages older than the bed).

We have the MALM and we love it! We got the drawers underneath too and it’s great.
It’s survived being taken apart and put back together for a house move and no squeak on ours yet! It’s really nice to look at too!

I had a malm and hated it (slats were forever moving and I had to tighten it too often). I have a hemnes now and love it.

I had a malm bed, It was fine but definitely looked more sturdy than it actually was. I sat down on it a bit too quickly and broke it, I wasn't even particularly heavy.

My other bugbear is it's a very chunky frame and I used to walk into the frame a lot.

I now have an ottoman bed from a company called esupasaver, it's been brilliant (we've had it for 3 years). It's really sturdy, the storage space is brilliant and the lifting mechanism is so smooth and easy. It was also really cheap.

Thanks everyone for your input. Sounds like it's worth a wee trip to Ikea.I'll have a look at the esupasaver one too!
