Feeling very down, anyone around for a chat?

Feeling very down at the moment, verging on depression.

Just need someone to talk some rubbish with and take my mind off it.

In RL one good friend has been broken by work stress, and is under the doctor for depression and anxiety. Another good friend's marriage is on the rocks, and her DH walked out yesterday. And hasn't returned yet.
I'm not going to put my troubles on them right now.

The other two people I'd likely turn to are also struggling to keep heads above water with work and have too much on for me to load them with more.

DH is working 12 hours today. And the kids are on screens somewhere avoiding me because i keep asking about homework.

No-one is ever on FB at the weekends

I just need to stop my head spinning and stop going down into the darkness.

Talk to me...please

@isittheholidaysyet new car very nice, thanks. Dh opened his wallet a little further than usual Grin

Sounds a lovely meal. My DD moaned about hers, as always, unless it's a takeaway. In our house its take it or leave it, so at least she did finish it.
We had an interesting debate about our wee break planned for the Easter hols vs coronavirus. Consensus is we go as planned, and antibac to within an inch of our lives. A root round the cars and various bags has produced no less than 5 bottles of hand sanitiser.
Holidays are expensive. We often just to long weekend breaks to various interesting places that we can fly more or less direct from our small airport. London in April, Stavanger in the summer booked so far. Self catering breaks are great, could always hire a campervan? Warmer and drier than a tent.........

isittheholidaysyet · 08/03/2020 19:43

I just spend ages looking for my handbag, car keys, purse.
Family get stressed because I can't find my keys again, but they borrow them and leave them in stupid places! like in the pot with all the other keys.

Josh
Just read your chat thread. Sounds really tough. Sending you a virtual (coronavirus-free) hug.

My dc borrow the car keys now and again. Especially ds often just puts them in his pocket, I need to notice they are gone before he heads home (40 km) otherwise I can look for hours to no avail Grin.

MrsBeeluga · 08/03/2020 19:56

Oh and re holidays, Scandinavia is quite expensive, so perhaps not here. I love self catering holidays, but I'm not an extrovert.

Second the campervan/camper idea, much nicer way of camping imo, I like my own toilet Grin.

isittheholidaysyet · 08/03/2020 20:08

I would love a campervan. But would need a six-berth, and then they get large and expensive! (And I might need a to pass a further driving test?) I certainly have one on my wish list for when the kids have left home.
A caravan would be good but I worry about towing something that big.
One of my kids is a real home bird, I suspect autism, but haven't done anything about getting a diagnosis. He can do a week, but then wants his own bed and his house, basically. He says he doesn't like camping because he can't get comfy and there's always people about.
And DH has to organise cover for work for when he's away, and I think that's often so much hassle, that he'd rather stay home than be bothered.

That sounds like a great deal for France. When I looked a few years ago I couldn't find accommodation for less that £1200. We found something in Holland for €600, then spent a fortune on the ferry from hull!

Perimenopause is hard, I am through it and out the other side now but it was tough. My stupid puppy has just log rolled off the sofa as he is trying to chew his own back leg then barking when his foot won't stay still.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 08/03/2020 20:20

That’s great that you had fun and lovely meal.
We hardly ever do holidays for more than a week. We find it’s enough for us and keeps the cost down.
Book flights early and air bnb keeps things as cheap as possible.

Pajamagirl · 08/03/2020 20:26

If u don’t have a camper can what about euro camp ? It’s already set up , you just turn up and enjoy ?

QueenOfOversharing · 08/03/2020 20:32

Thought I'd pop in and say hello... I'm a bit of an old timer with shite moods, so I really feel for anyone going through it. Some awesome suggestions here - I often find it hard to do anything, but I always try to remind myself "baby steps".

I'm very lucky to have my 2 gorgeous mental dogs in my bed beside me but I'm desperate to know more about the puppy upthread!

Planning a holiday sounds like a good activity to distract your thoughts and obviously give you something to look forward to. Or you could do a sort of mood board - maybe about a holiday. If you have pinterest you could be there all night... or just search images and chuck them into a folder on your pc.

Glad you're sounding brighter.

MrsBeeluga · 08/03/2020 20:35

bloody you puppy sounds hilarious.

@isittheholidaysyet I couldn't agree more with your ds, and again I'm no extrovert Grin.

isittheholidaysyet · 08/03/2020 20:36

When we were kids, eurocamp was all under canvas (We never did it, as we had camping stuff), I get the impression that a lot of it is chalets/vans now, is that so?

(I'm not actually bothered about camping myself, I just like the outdoor lifestyle, and more importantly the low cost, I'd much rather be in the warm and have decent lighting)

I booked mine with Thomson Al Fresco-it’s a 3 bed static van. A lot of Euro amp, key camp and the like are now static vans yes, and there’s some good deals to be had.
2 of my 4 dc are autistic so I get the need to be home-I’ve found places with water parks to be the best thing and quite a lot of the sites in France and Spain are cottoning onto this. There are some lovely ones in Spain that you can fly into Reid to get to-and flights to Reus aren’t too expensive.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 08/03/2020 20:46

And thank you for the hug...quite frankly I’d deal with it even if it’s Coronavirus riddled-I’m not an at risk category-and a hugs is a hug Grin

isittheholidaysyet · 08/03/2020 20:47

Thanks Queen

Holiday might have to wait till autumn this year. 2 kids are going abroad with scouts this summer. Fab opportunity I could never give them. But very expensive. (Bargain really, but expensive for us) might see what I can find for october.

I'm feeling inspired though.
There's a church weekend I want to go on in a couple of months time. I might see if any of those people who are always offering to help would be willing to babysit from 7.30 am on a Sunday morning whilst DH is at work!

Water parks would be a big draw, doesn't-like-holidays-boy is also a swimming pool lover!

Thanks everyone for supporting me tonight.

I'm in bed now and going to sleep. Feeling a lot better.

Good morning. How are you today?

My ds has a raging temperature (40) and my morning has consisted of a docs appointment and sick in the pharmacy, he’s got tonsillitis it seems but he’s really not well Sad.

isittheholidaysyet · 09/03/2020 12:49

Morning josh

That's not good for your ds. I hope he gets better soon.

I've woken up absolutely fine. That's why this is so weird. My mood swings so much.

I'm a school governor, and have spent the morning in school. So that has given me something different to think about.

OP posts:
JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 09/03/2020 16:34

I’m a school governor too, although not for very much longer-my term of office is up soon and I haven’t been able to give it as much as I used to when I took it on.
I’m glad to hear you’re feeling okay today though this is good. Smile
