BORING- child friendly uk hotels

Heads up for the boring question, but really interested to hear genuine people’s recommendations!

Taking DH away in October but need to stay in the UK, preferably not too far down south (we are north of Manchester)

DD is 2 so would be great if the hotel was child friendly!

Thanks!

We take our DC to Novotels or Village Hotels with pools. Tend to go for a couple of nights, one night the DC get to buy the makings of a hotel room picnic (we take paper plates and cutlery and they choose food from a supermarket - fruit, crisps, sausage rolls, sandwiches, maybe little fairy cakes) and then we order room service (the Novotel steak sandwich is a thing of beauty with a beer each from the bar) and then the other night we all eat out together. Rooms are big enough that when we’re down we can turn the TV on low and watch something - is it as exciting as hotels pre kids, nope, but the kids love it, it’s a great change of scene, and we’ve been able to explore some lovely parts of the U.K..

Sorry, three year old had wee emergency. Two more things I’d add - we signed up for Novotel loyalty thing and mailing list and get some really good deals (big room with fridge for £65 a night in some places). Village Hotels used to have epic deals, throw in great breakfasts and usually have Starbucks/Costa / spa and gym in the building which are all perks for us but in the last six months or so bought in a ‘child premium’ of £15 per child per night which makes the rooms ridiculously priced. So you need to keep an eye out for kids stay free deals as otherwise it’s not cost effective.

Both chains are very child friendly - family changing rooms, colouring for the kids etc.
