When to go to the doctors?

My toddler has a bad cough, runny nose and diarrhoea. No fever I dont think. I dont want to risk more germs at the doctors unnecessarily. How long should I wait before I get him seen?!

I wouldn't go to the doctor for any of those 🤷‍♀️
Is he drinking and eating? I'd give lots of fluid and bland foods. If diarrhoea lasts more than a couple of days, I might call and ask advice depending on how they seem.

Thanks. I'm just worried because a few toddlers I know have come down with chest infections so I dont want to leave it if it's something he needs meds for.

I would go to doctors over the cough. My DD had a terrible cough end of last year and quickly turned into brochiolitis and she was kept on oxygen and antibiotics in hospital. Trust your gut

They shouldn't give meds just because his friends have something though, should be based on him.

In that case, I would call the doctor (but I'm not in UK and our Dr answers the phone) and ask when I should be worried. That way if he does get worse it's already registered and I know the doctor will fit us in ASAP. Keep listening to his breathing, if it sounds weird or crackly, get him seen.

Keep him hydrated, ice lollies and stuff if he won’t drink, give Calpol if it helps him, and see doctor if he seems flat or has shallow, fast or crackly breathing. Or if cough persists for ages.

Thanks. Every now and again I can hear that it sounds like he is trying to cough something up but he sint shallow breathing or wheezy at all. We live next door to the dr so I know if I call them they will say to come in
