What thing are you unexpectedly really good at?

Thinking about the thread about what you are crap at, what are you good at that you didn’t expect? I have been clay pigeon shooting twice and both times was awesome - no idea why. And despite being left handed, when I shot right handed I was even better!

Yodelling.

NotMiranda · 05/03/2020 10:53

Saying the alphabet backwards is easy if you learn a nonsense poem:

Said Wye, "Eggs double your fee. Your tea is our kewpie. Oh, in 'em all, KayJay. I hate Gee if he deceives BA"

antisupermum · 05/03/2020 10:53

@BahMooQuack Saldy I'm in Scotland so not much use to you. I wish you luck with your chain though!

Trooperslaneagain · 05/03/2020 10:58

Cooking. I was brought up on Birds Eye beef burgers and Findus Crispy Pancakes with cremated lamb chops for a treat on a Saturday.

Give me a chicken and I will create a feast with all the trimmings. Though my roast potato glory disappeared after my Ddad died - his were of legend. I just can't make them any more and have to default to DH.

Reading. At least 4 books on the go at once.

Staying awake at odd times should actually be on the crap at thread and called I cannot sleep for love nor money

f00k · 05/03/2020 11:05

Cooking. Like Troopers I was raised on frozen food. Meat was cooked to death and served alongside something frozen or a sauce from a jar. Never encountered a herb or garlic until I taught myself to cook when I was 23. Now I'm the dog's bollocks in the kitchen if I say so myself. My roast dinners are amazing and I love baking too. It's literally my only talent. I was good at drawing when I was a teen but I never kept it up so I'm probably shit now.

I’m another one for the MN sniper squad, although I don’t know why any of us should be surprised that we’re good at it. Are only men supposed to be good at shooting?

64sNewName · 05/03/2020 11:50

No, I think women are equally expected to be good shots, but it’s slightly unexpected perhaps that your average British person has a chance to find out if they’re any good in the first place. And some of those PPs were saying it was surprising because their eyesight is poor.

I don’t think I’ve ever had an opportunity to shoot anything. I used to be really good at catching high baseballs/softballs in the outfield though.

BahMooQuack · 05/03/2020 11:52

I never tried shootng anything before, which is why being good at archery was a huge surprise.

I am a very godo catch though. I can catch anything even if not quite looking at it. And I have a bad back so I can pick up socks and hankies off the floor with my toes, toss them into the air and catch them without bending down at all. I go around the house picking things up with my toes.

Bellesavage · 05/03/2020 11:54

Using all my limbs to simultaneously make breakfast, unload and load dishwasher and clean kitchen of a morning.

Also clay pigeon shooting

Remembering numbers. Mobile phones have ruined that for me though. I used to know everyone's number off by heart

icannotremember · 05/03/2020 11:57

@NotMiranda that is fantastic!

PermanentTemporary · 05/03/2020 11:57

Rice. I'm not a great cook but my rice is awesome every time.

Reading.

Blow jobs, apparently.

BumblebeePlantMum · 05/03/2020 12:13

Throwing things at other things. Never miss.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/03/2020 12:19

I can read upside down fluently.

I can sew badges onto uniforms quite quickly.

I can't shoot straight though, with handguns, shotguns or rifles. Randomly, I am better than average with a sniper rifle..

Toria70 · 05/03/2020 12:22

I can read maps. In fact I'm a bit of a geek about maps.

I was taught about grid references in my first job and was hooked.

I can't bear satnavs, it takes all the fun out of navigation!

Balloon modelling. DH's Christmas party was circus themed and all tables had those long balloons and a pump. Much to everyones surprised I picked one up and instantly made a dog, swiftly followed by swords and crowns.
Nobody would believe I'd not had some secret side job as a kids entertainer.

Bit gutted though, why did I not know I could do that when my own kids were little!

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 05/03/2020 12:33

I'm good at knowing what time it is without looking at a clock.

(Most pointless talent ever given the abundance of clocks in the world, but I am quite proud of it)

Honeybee85 · 05/03/2020 12:34

Sex (my upbringing was VERY restricted)

Changing nappies fast (developing this skill has been a direct result of the skill mentioned ^)

ZooeyS · 05/03/2020 12:36

I am AMAZING at knowing the time without looking at a clock. To the minute. You can all synchronise your watches to me.

I am also an extremely proficient pancake tosser.

ZooeyS · 05/03/2020 12:38

Haha katsutheclockworkorange snap!
