Help mumsnetters, I need to find a present for a 9 year old boy and I have no idea what they are into these days.
What have your 9 year old DS's been asking for for birthday/christmas?
Any ideas gratefully recieved.

What’s the budget?

Watto1 · 05/03/2020 06:41

Lego is always a winner with my 9 year old.

BikeRunSki · 05/03/2020 06:42

Pokemon card tins for the nine year olds I know. Also hot wheel cars and pens for drawing. What do they like?

Up to £50 he's into sports, building stuff, he's really bright and loves finding things out but still keen on toys. Loves lego of course but I gave him lego last time.

Gravitrax starter kit.

My dd just turned ten. Hits have been: Chillys water bottle, Guinness Book of Records, a new Wii game, Lego speed sets (cars), money!, book tokens. He loves super cars and reading, so several books on super cars!

We love the DK Encyclopaedia range for large, colourful information books. He also had a funky sweatshirt from Next.

New trainers? Sports wear? A new sports bag for his footie kit etc?

gerbo · 05/03/2020 07:01

Ooh another big hit- a Porsche remote control car, his friends all love anything remote control.

gerbo · 05/03/2020 07:02

That should read 'my DS turned ten', not 'dd'!

MotherOfAllNameChanges · 05/03/2020 07:03

Bush craft stuff, his fave football/rugby kit, a book series (Harry Potter/Percy Jackson/ Heroes of Olympus etc), tickets to something (harry potter world/ school of rock the musical), a new computer game, a fitbit, board game, pop up football goals, a hammock, art materials, dart board, cook book.

It’s a bit over budget but my children love the Turing Tumble. My maths geek DH also raves about it.

Board games my children like include Castle Panic, Sushi Go Party and (proper) Cluedo.

You could also try Tobbie the robot and Cambridge Brainbox electronics kit (think it is Primary 2 we have).

Or my DS just turned 10 and absolutely loves the magazines Aquila or The Phoenix.

WeAllHaveWings · 05/03/2020 07:18

Which sport? If really into football, then current Champions League or UEFA football, not the cheap £15 shop ones the proper £30 ones from Adidas - ds used to love them and was very precious about them. Goalie gloves with finger stays.

If he loves lego, then nothing wrong with more lego!

Watchagotcha · 05/03/2020 08:43

More Lego. Gravitrax. Outdoor survival kit.

bookmum08 · 05/03/2020 08:50

I would ask his parents for ideas. £50 is a lot to spend on something random he may have zero interest in.

bsc · 05/03/2020 08:54

Another one saying Turing Tumble is fantastic. My DS lives Lego, books, board games, e.g. Ticket To Ride, Settlers of Catan, Dixit, Dominion

LER83 · 05/03/2020 10:23

My 9 year old ds loved his subscription to The Week Junior magazine. He also liked his Roblox figures, nike trainers, guiness world record and infopedia books, money, cd/itunes voucher etc

LER83 · 05/03/2020 10:24

Maybe pay for a day out or something, tour of favourite football stadium? Theatre tickets?
