I'm getting taxed, earn less than £8k

It's just dawned on me that I'm getting tax deducted between £65 and £100 ish per month.

Upton checking my personal tax code should allow me to earn £12500 before I'm takes... this year I will earn £7800.

Just checked my tax online and I appear to have my tax code split over my current job and my old job is this the reason why?

Do I need to do anything or will they sort and refund me in April

Sounds like they didn't file your P45 or do a P60 for you.

In the past I have got payroll to sort this or you can phone HMRC yourself.

Baba85 · 04/03/2020 23:20

U need to contact HMRC & get them to stop the spilt

If your old job finished since 6/04/19 then obtain P45 from them and hand into payroll office of new job.
Then find out from payroll what they will do about your tax code. They might advise you to contact tax office.Ask which one is the tax office for your new job.

Depends on when you started your new job.

If you have overpaid tax you will get it back at some point so don't worry too much.

You wont get back student loan repayments or NI though.

You can get overpaid NI back there is a form somewhere on the Gov.uk website.

I have to do it every year as I overpay NI on my second job.
