Evening dress you can't wear a bra with, and E cup bosoms! Help!

I've bought this dress for a do later this week, but cant figure out what to do with my tatas.

A bra will show through the lace panel, (as does underboob, if not supported) and stick on bras dont appear to be for the more generously proportioned.

What shall I dooooooooooo?

Probably depends on back size. I'm a 28E and have small boobs.

Reginabambina · 02/03/2020 15:12

Just wear a singlet over your bra under the dress?

picklebarrelfalls · 02/03/2020 15:16

That dress is ASOS, it's on my watch list and comes in a few colours. I love it, op!

Normal bra with flesh coloured silk slip over it.

thenightsky · 02/03/2020 17:29

I'd wear a black slip or silk cami under it. The lace makes it look like you have a hairy chest if you use flesh coloured.

ChanklyBore · 02/03/2020 17:33

I’m an E cup. I wouldn’t wear anything under it. Does it tie at the back? That’d offer some shaping underbust.

Jolonglegs · 03/03/2020 18:42

Black bra with a back slip seems an obvious choice. I tried stick on bras once, but my DD girls objected.
You're not the only person in the world to buy some clothing, and then had to start buying other pieces to go with it, so don't worry.

AnneKipanki · 03/03/2020 18:49

@ShowOfHands , E is the cup size which is the boob . It is not small.

Divebar · 03/03/2020 18:52

I would see if a seamstress could sew cups into it for you.

sleepyhead · 03/03/2020 18:54

Cup size is related to back size, so the cups of a 28E bra are much smaller than a 40E.

Runmybathforme · 03/03/2020 18:59

I’m also an E cup, and find the stick on bras brilliant. They hoist everything up and give a fab cleavage.

AnneKipanki · 03/03/2020 19:05

I thought E meant you were x inches different in size between rib cage and bust fullness .
It would be the same x , if you were a 28 or a 34 .

ShowOfHands · 03/03/2020 19:41

Nope. Believe me, back size makes a HUGE difference. I am a 28E which is not big at all.

sleepyhead · 03/03/2020 19:49

It's the reason crap bra shops try to get you to buy smaller cups and bigger backs rather than stocking a decent range.

A 34F is technically the same (in terms of cup) as a 36E, but it won't fit properly around the back.

The UK is still full of women walking around in bras that are too big on the band and M&S is stuffed full of 38 & 40 bras in B and C cups, not so many in 28/30 G/F.

HeartyGreenSalad · 03/03/2020 19:50

Either a long flesh coloured bra or a black one. No lace but moulded . Mine was about £30

AnneKipanki · 03/03/2020 20:16

booborbust.com

TWD89 · 03/03/2020 21:04

I’m a 30F which isn’t huge at all, I just look average and slim and stick on bras work fine. 90% of the time I don’t even bother with a bra.

When I was a breastfeeding 36F though and a different body shape a stick on wouldn’t have worked.

Adequate scaffolding tit tape (actually copious amounts) might have worked though. Disagree with coloured bras, that would just look daft.

AnneKipanki · 04/03/2020 06:48

30G.
Can't see my feet. Have to sling over shoulder to tie my shoes.

Divebar · 04/03/2020 08:38

I’m a bit bemused by some of these comments.... my understanding was the number was the size of the back and the letter the cup size. I’m a G cup like AnneKipanki but a 36G and they fit my frame totally ( I’m a size 16). On a tiny 30 inch frame they would be in “ bombshell” territory ( that’s a compliment Anne by the way). OP I would look at Bravissimo because if anyone’s got a product for your dress dilemma it will be them.

AnneKipanki · 04/03/2020 09:56

Thanks Divebar !

20viona · 04/03/2020 09:59

Perky pairs. They are amazing basically giant plasters they do not budge at all I wore them on my wedding day

ShowOfHands · 04/03/2020 12:08

@Divebar

It is surprising but cup sizes have to change according to back size. If you think about it, imagine somebody who is a 38 back size, so a whole 10 inches bigger than me at a 28. You couldn't stick the same cups on both our bras and expect them to fit. But we might both be an E cup nonetheless.

PhoneLock · 04/03/2020 19:46

I’m a bit bemused by some of these comments...

So am I, but for different reasons. I commented towards the start of the thread about cup size being different depending on back size. I'm a 28 back with a massive (not!) FF or even G cup depending on the bra and I would quite happily wear that dress braless.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/03/2020 19:51

I think you need to find a different dress. Making sure I can wear a bra is one of the main things I consider when buying dresses.

thenightsky · 04/03/2020 20:39

Its not about size of boob, its about length of droop. If I wore that dress you'd pretty much see my whole boob, and probably my nipples if I leaned forward. My boobs without a bra sit a good 6in lower than in a bra (34E).
