Is it better than Center Parcs? It looks like a more beautiful setiting. How does it compare to their sites in terms of size and ease of getting around? Cabins as nice? Ate the cabins and pool area clean? Do the staff seem interested and happy to help? I’m thinking of going but really need to know how it compares as it’s just me and my two young kids one with autism so I don’t want any nasty surprises.

We went last October with our son, having not been for a couple of years. When he was very young we used to go every year. I used to prefer it to Centre Parcs (although only been to Sherwood Forest a couple of times). We usually stay in a Ramsey cabin; always lovely. It feels a lot less crowded that CP to me.
You can hire bikes, but it’s very hilly. In the past we have hired one of the Golf Buggies which are brilliant to get about with. Swimming pool is mostly shallow, couple of big slides, lazy river.
Nice village centre with a shop, coffee shop, a pub and a couple of restaurants. Lots of activities to do. We booked late last October so most of the activities had been booked up, but we did ace throwing, archery and rope walks.
I think it’s great.

It was absolutely lovely with DH and dd(3 at the time). Tips, book activities in advance. Camp Smokey was great but it was raining at the time and the walk down was wet and tricky with a pram. Take a buggy if you have younger people. We took a Gousto box and got a breakfast box and it was perfect!!

Is it mainly suitable for families or would it be OK for adults?

ExtraFox18 · 29/02/2020 07:25

I have heard the staff are pretty could with kids with ASD- does anyone have experience of this?

Weve been to both. I dont think it's as good as centre parks, theres not as many activities and I found it more expensive in the park. But, overall the cost of going was slightly cheaper, the location is stunning, we all loved the pool and had a great day out in tenby beach which is about a 20 minute drive away. The staff were all lovely and we'd definitely go again.

DustyD2 · 29/02/2020 07:36

We prefer it to Center Parcs. Much less commercial with no money grabbing conveyor belt feeling. The site is beautiful, but hilly so get a buggy! The pool has slides etc but doesn't look as fancy as CP, but the kids didn't care!

Nice food in the restaurants, much more family feel and staff were lovely. Some free parades and music on during the week, and we are looking forward to seeing the new play dome.

The local area is beautiful, so much to do in Tenby and surrounding areas unlike CP when you never leave.

We liked it so much we're going back over easter! Not sure we'll do CP again.

Love it!
Great for kids and families, definitely get a golf buggy unless you are cycling (and enjoy the hills)
Camp smokey is fab, the whole site is so beautiful.
The new serendome is brilliant.
Worth driving to the beach at Saundersfoot

Bearsinmotion · 29/02/2020 11:07

Golf buggy is essential if the weather is bad, and it usually is! We have been twice and are going again with kids now 5 and 8.

Staff are lovely but not always that on the ball! We went in October so did get cold, but that didn’t stop any of the activities. Serendome in particular, but wrapped up warm and loved the evening parade. Has a much less “sanitised” feel than Center Parcs, which I much preferred!

Bearsinmotion · 29/02/2020 11:09

Also, we stayed in the Ramsay lodge, two floors and felt much, much more spacious than centre parcs lodges!

Grobagsforever · 29/02/2020 19:59

Vastly prefer it to CP. much more space, beautiful setting, many places to visit nearby. Pool much less crowded. Eating options not chains. Has an pub. Outdoor play area is undercover, also with a pub,

Fewer middle class wankers. Lovely staff.

CwtchesCuddles · 29/02/2020 20:06

My son goes to a special school, they take students on residential trips to Bluestone and say the staff are really accomodating with the kids.

lachy · 29/02/2020 21:10

Love Bluestone! We've been twice, and agree that the Ramsey chalets are lovely.

Definitely hire a golf buggy and book activities - Shelbys messy mayhem was great fun. There is loads to do on the park, and the Serendome is open now too.

Because there's so much to do outside of the Park, we would go swimming in the morning and off site every other afternoon.

You'll have a brilliant time.

JuniLoolaPalooza · 29/02/2020 21:21

1Littleweed it's VERY family oriented, so unless you're a group of adults that don't mind kids everywhere, it would be ok. There are some lovely places to stay in the area though, which aren't quite so child-centric.
Go, OP, it's lovely. I've never been to CentreParcs (and don't want to). My eldest is now school age and I can't justify the price of it in school holidays but I would definitely go again.

LuxLuxLux84 · 29/02/2020 21:28

Thanks it sounds great.

corduroyal · 29/02/2020 21:35

We were impressed. Much more chilled than cp, less crammed together which is good for ASD? Didn't feel like we were being fleeced.

Downside - pool is less fancy and the soft play building thing is a bit tatty/lightless.

I loved the spa too.

ilovewinterpansies · 29/02/2020 21:40

Love bluestone. We've been 3 times and are going again this Easter.

Bigger lodges and more spacious.
Agree get a buggy and book in advance!
Beautiful surrounding area and easier to get in and out of (smaller car park, not as crowded)
Swimming pool not as good as c Parcs but still nice and enough for the kids to do.
Staff very friendly
Definitely not as commercial/chain -y as c Parcs.

We usually go for a week and the drive for us is long - we've stayed at Celtic manor near Cardiff on the drive there which is a nice way to break up the journey!

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 29/02/2020 21:41

Love it there - used to go regularly. Stopped going to CP when we found Bluestone.
Much quieter than CP, accommodation far nicer imo.
But does seem to have got more expensive in the last few years. To be expected I guess

Pokkadots · 29/02/2020 21:50

We love it and have never hired a golf buggy. But my 4 are used to walking. The chalets are lovely.

tinytemper66 · 29/02/2020 22:28

Not been but relatives love the Kingdom of Elves in the run up to Christmas.
