Birthing balls

Anyone know why your knees are meant to be at a right angle to your hips? I can’t find anything online and am much more comfortable with my hips lower than my knees. Possibly because my hips are quite flexible naturally so it is very comfortable but wondering if I’m doing myself a mischief bouncing away like this.

Anyone got any idea?

Your knees should be about 10cm lower than your hips.

Knees below hips is the advice otherwise the pelvis is tilted in the wrong direction.

Thanks both, but neither of those explain why it needs to be the case, ie if it’s that your hips are at the wrong angle does that mean you’ll bounce the baby’s head towards your bum and not directly downwards? Would it still work if your legs are positioned further apart / bit straighter to get that angle for you?

It’s to do with the space in the pelvis when it is tilted forwards vs being tilted back and how the baby’s head can descend into it, the more space the less likely the baby is to be in a posterior (OP) presentation.
I’ll try and find some info now.....

@ShivD that was exactly the kind of info I was after, thanks so much!
