For the last 2 years I was using the teenage skin moisturiser by simple but then they discontinued it!!.

For the past8 months I've had a afwul break outs trying new ones.

Im using neutrogena clear and defend.
Which isn't the best but I'm not sure if it's making my skin worse. But it will do until I find one.

I've tried the simple rich and normal moisturiser and it gave me the worst angry ever.

Im now taking lymecycline to clear my spots (it has worked a little).

But now my skin is dry and itchy.

Im just shy of 30 so I shouldnt be getting spots so im going to go back to the gp to investigate more.

Anyway!.
Anyone got any advice for a decent moisturiser.

I have a similar skin type and the moisturiser that works best for me is called Silver Serum. I think it’s a brand name and have to order it online but one of the very few that’s gentle and doesn’t break me out.

Aldi Q10 range is the only one I can find that doesn't irritate my super sensitive skin!

La Roche Posay Cicaplast - moisturising, soothing and antibacterial

I also have sensitive acne prone sk8n and the new protect and glow moisturiser by Simple works well for me.. which totally surprised me! .. also pure Jojoba oil is amazing as completely non comodegenic but also non irritating.

I find the superdrug naturally radiant range great, especially the 2in1 moisturiser and serum

La Roche Posay

Cerave is very good, and not expensive. Can get it from Boots.

BretonKitten · 26/02/2020 04:50

Another vote for Jojoba Oil.

snappycamper · 26/02/2020 05:39

Dermalogica active moist is amazing for my spot prone skin

Catscat · 26/02/2020 07:20

Wow so many, I'm terrified of trying anything because of the reaction I got from the simple moisturiser that was for sensitive skin and hypoallergenic.

My routine is wash face with dove soap (other soap makes skin worse).
Pat face dry and put on neutro moisturiser and that's it, I don't wear make up x

I use Paula’s Choice Clear skin moisturiser, it is brilliant. The best advice I’ve ever read for acne is to avoid any products with silicone, Shea butter or sulphates. I cut these out and it’s the single biggest thing that has improved my skin. Caroline Hirons has good advice on this.

Paula’s Choice BHA is also wonderful before moisturising.

RoseReally · 26/02/2020 07:46

Agree with @brownsauce. Caroline Hirons advice is good (although I find her a bit much sometimes!). There is a facebook group with lots of advice as well. I don't have acne but would get a few spots at times, Paula's Choice BHA has totally prevented any spots. The Cerave moisturiser is very good for sensitive skin and not too 'heavy' if that makes sense. My skin is very sensitive and I have rosecea.

I am trying a mosturiser from Holland and Barrett and it seems good. Dr Organic. I was worried about trying it but so far my skin is looking better so I have bought the facemask to try.

anonacatchat · 26/02/2020 08:45

Dove soap ! Oh god . I'd give the toleriane cleanser a go

The PH will likely be fairly high

Oil isn't moisturizing . It should be layered with moisturizers .

I'd avoid anything labeled organic as normally full of fragrance and botanicals that are huge irritants .

I'd rather follow Dr Sam Bunting and Dr Dray / Dr Lim than the advice of unqualified skincare bloggers who aren't in anyway regulated .

Nivea soft.
