Hi
I know this has probably been done to death but please humour me.
18yo dd and I are in London for the day, later this week, based close to London Bridge station.

We've about 5 hours to kill, so just looking ideas of what to do. I know there's so much to do but as I've not been in London for about 20 years I'm not sure what's a good idea and within reasonable travel time from London Bridge.

A bit of window shopping might be nice, bit not too much really as we've a flight to catch home.

Then finally, does anyone know if there's maybe a hotel or later opening degree cafe where I can wait with a drink/cuppa when dd is at her appointment.

Sorry for the length but thanks in advance. ..

London Bridge is right next to the Shard, if you want to pay to go up to the top for the views. You can also go to the bars and restaurants in there without paying an entry fee, but the food/drinks are pricy!

Cite in Hays Galleria is quite nice. I'd go to the Tower if LONDON ir get a boat somewhere

Thanks for the replies!
So bothy those places address in that general area?
We're getting the airport train to London bridge, locating the building where dd has her appointment later that day, then going on an adventure once we know where we've to find our way back to, iykwim.

Aqua bar in the Shard
Borough Market or Mercato Metropolitano down the road
Hays Galleria and Shad Thames

All very instagrammable if she’s into that sort of thing!

London Bridge is right next to Borough Market which is a fantastic foodie market and well worth a browse.
The Fashion and Textile museum and The Globe are both within easy walking distance, but in opposite directions! The Clink prison museum is close to the Globe.
There’s also the London Bridge experience which is very touristy and a bit cheesey but good if you’re in the mood for it www.thelondonbridgeexperience.com

Good places for a late coffee:

London Bridge is one stop from Blackfriars on the Thameslink route so you can nip over to the Tate Modern and walk along the Thames.

You can walk to Tate Modern from London Bridge, also cross the Bridge in to the City to the museum of London. My persinal favourite is the museum of childhood in Bethnal Green. What time is Dd's appointment shouldn't be a problem finding somewhere to have coffee.

The Tate Modern is open until 10 on Fridays

Another vote for aqua shard purely for the views. The shard has a viewing level, but its pricey. Aqua shard is a restaurant/bar in the shard on a lower level to the viewing level, but still had fantastic views on a clear day and no charge to just go in. If you want to eat there, I recommend booking, but to just have a drink, you can just go in without a booking.

I used to live there. My favourite thing to do with visitors is go to borough market, get something nice to eat, a glass of sparkling wine and a treat for later (I recommend the Bread Ahead doughnuts). Then go out the back of the market towards Clink Street. Pass the Golden Hind (restored ship), turn left and walk along the river. On this route you will pass Shakespeare's Globe, the Tate modern (go into the Turbine Hall - the big hall - and see what the guest exhibition is). There's a nice gift shop if you want to browse or need to pick up a cute book for a friend's child. Then continue along the river. You'll pass the National Theatre, the BFI, the book market under Waterloo Bridge, the street performers. If you're tired you can stop at Waterloo. If not, keep going and your path will take you to Westminster and the Houses of Parliament. Then you're on the Jubilee line and it's a short ride back to London Bridge for a well deserved rest after all that walking!

It will fit perfectly into the time you have and you'll pack a lot in.

Some great ideas there, thanks so much, feeling much less nervous about the whole thing now Smile
Dad's appointment is 4-7pm, so the Hilton would be nice to relax and people watch Wink
