Ffs DD and Coronovirus

I lost patience tonight with DD 13 who can be a bit of a drama queen anyway. She came home from school not feeling well and over the course of the evening she has persuaded herself she has coronovirus. She has been saying she can't go to school tomorrow and has to self isolate for at least two weeks. She has I suspect a cold. After trying to be patient I finally lost it and shouted - you do not have coronovirus ffs. Not my finest moment. She stormed upstairs.
Bloody hell I am not looking forward to tomorrow morning.
By the way we are in Britain, not Wuhan. If we were in Wuhan I could understand her being convinced she has coronovirus.

I don’t want the virus, 2 weeks in quarantine however... bliss!

DD does not have healthy anxiety. What she has is an over active imagination, a love of drama, and an eye on the main chance.

I mentioned the other night that I had a bit of a sore throat. Cue 12-year-old DS genuinely close to tears. I think they're all winding each other up about it at school but it actually becomes a bit more scary when they're on their own and out of the bluff and bravado of the school-yard environment. (I might join you all in quarantine for a fortnight though. I'll bring snacks).

Just this evening my Dh suggested that I might have it. I have developed a cough in the last few days and sneezed a bit but no other symptoms at all. I pointed out that it's February, snow on the ground and as I am pregnant I can no longer fit into my winter jacket so have been wandering around with it open. As far as I know I haven't been in contact with anyone who has travelled to infected areas. I think dh is just worried as it's in Italy and we are in mainland Europe... Tbh I think your daughter has just wound herself up, give her some space to calm down and then maybe a quiet chat and a cuddle. Its quite scary right now but I am taking the view that of its going to get here it will, we just have to keep calm.
