9 week early gender blood test nhs

Has anyone had the early gender blood test at 9 weeks?

I had mine at 9 weeks and now 14 weeks, I’m starting to doubt the results. I have been told I’m having a girl but nervous they could have got it wrong. I had one 6 years ago to determine my eldest gender and it was correct as a boy.

If anyone can share their experience with the testing

What test are you on about?

I'm not sure what they called it but the hospital genetics department sent my blood sample off to check if there was any male dna present in it.

Why?

Was this the harmony test?

I believe it's to check for likelihood of foetal abnormalities rather than the baby's sex?

I can't see how/why it would be wrong, but if you want a second opinion, you may be asked if you'd like to know the sex at your 20 week anomaly scan. If not, pay to go privately.

The NHS don't do the Harmony test (the do offer their own NIPT though and this is usually if there is something thrown up at the dating scan)

The OP alludes that she had the test purely to find out gender, which would only be there case if the parents are known carriers of serious sex-linked genetic conditions?

In simple terms, as an NHS patient you don't get given a very expensive diagnostic test for no reason and you certainly aren't given it just to find out the sex of your baby.

Yes sorry, I'm a carrier of a gender specific disease that's the reasoning for the testing on the NHS that's why I was worrying as if it's a girl like predicted everything should be fine as girls will only be 50/50 carriers but males are 50/50 to have the disease.

Spoken to the genetics consultant and she has told me it will be more accurate further on so will be having it re done.

I didnt have an NHS but had the harmony at 10 weeks which I assume works kn the same way. I was told I was having a girl and it was accurate.

I would call your consultant or midwife to discuss further if you are worried. Good luck.

Thankyou, I had the test redone for peace of mind. Got the same result as the previous test feeling better about it all now.

Hi sorry not sure how to do this, my girlfriend is 9 weeks pregnant and nothing on Google us helping but is it normal for lack of communication to happen, she's more into being on her phone then talking to me and I'd just like to know is it me
