8-legged hairy mofo

Just got into bed and my cat sat on the end of the bed, staring intently at my wardrobe..

One of the wardrobe doors is slightly ajar but the position its in means I can't see behind the door into the corner of the room.

I've been lying here wondering what on earth she could be staring at for so long. I could hear the odd faint creak of a coat hanger so automatically assumed someone had broken in earlier while we were out, stayed in the house all afternoon and was now either: hiding in the wardrobe or in the corner where I couldn't see. The things your mind comes up with at 2am in the morning, in the dark, on your own, is amazing!

Then Rational Me thought I could see some dust slowly floating down to the floor. But oh no. It's a hairy 8-legged arachnid freak abseiling down my wardrobe and then back up like some bungee-jumping evil ninja.

I can either:

Wait till the cat gets it and eats it
OR
Gently get a tissue, then light it and burn the house down.

What would you do? Suggestions most welcome, I'm not going to be doing any sleeping for quite a while...

My spindly ones must be on steroids and they do that thing where you think you've caught them to put them outside and they drop and disappear.

I like to know where they are.

No I don't know where it is now....

Fully expect it to be waiting for me tonight when I go to bed. I bit it's armed itself with the butter knife.

I don't mind the spindly ones! Last night's beast was bigger than that but smaller than those god-awful massive house spiders you see in September/October.

P.S @Pixi - Starey Cat is most upset you think she is a he. She understands she is a little on the mahoosive side and bigger than most boy cats, but she thought her absolute prettiness makes it obvious she is a Lady.

I'm sorry OP but the house no longer belongs to you. Gather what you can and run! If you have some napalm hanging around then you may have a chance at regaining your home.

Hovverry · 24/02/2020 19:35

Last year we had a flea invasion. I used that household spray and later found several dead spiders.
I would never kill a spider but had to kill the fleas and the spiders were an unexpected bonus effect.

AlCalavicci · 24/02/2020 19:37

Have any of you seen the spindly ( aka daddy long legs ) hunt flies ?
I have only seen it twice , they hover just above the fly ( a big fat annoying blue bottle last time ) and drop like a stone onto them and wrap their legs around them .
I was stunned when I saw it .

PixieRabbit · 25/02/2020 13:32

Oh I do apologise, Lady Starey Cat!

When I was writing it, I was thinking, why do I think the cat is a ‘he’?
