What's the best mattress to have? (really exciting!)

I'm contemplating buying a Dormeo one, they have offers, but....

I'm a really restless sleeper, and I sleep in every position possible! I have to have 3 pillows because of breathing probs, which doesn't help my back or legs , I have disabilities too.

My current mattress is only 2 years old, its a spring one, and already feels like Ive had it 20 years! I need to lie down a lot because of my disabilities, and DC who is also disabled lies on my bed a lot, so I need one that stands the test of time.

Sprung or foam? Also, its said you should flip and turn mattress at times, yet a foam topped one you cant, no?

We've got a simba mattress and I love it.

Well, now I can just see Rafiki holding a mattress up over Pride Rock Grin

I have a Sealy orthopaedic mattress and it’s amazing, it’s better than mattresses in posh hotels, cost me £700 for a king size one three years ago, so not massively cheap, but I think cheap mattresses are a false economy as they don’t last and are uncomfortable, once you sleep on a good one you’ll notice the difference and never buy cheap again.

That's my prob, I'm on benefits due to not only my disabilities but being a fulltime carer to disabled DC so cant afford it. I can save and save but I need it NOW not in 5 years time!

I know you get what you pay for, just have to keep looking for offers or sales.

Thing is a matress is something you want to keep for a long time, so it has to be the right choice.

I’m on a tempur mattress. Love it
I went for no springs because in Japan and they have worked out there’s a link between breast cancer and the metal springs being electric conductors or something. Static is all around us! Don’t know the ins and outs. Feel free to google. I just didn’t want metal near me if it could be potentially causing cancer. Plus foam is great!

We have a Myers memory foam mattress, a sprung mattress with an inbuilt memory foam layer. I love it, but it's just so heavy to change it! It's king-size and extra deep, and I have to get my husband to put the mattress protector and fitted sheet on as I cannot lift it after damaging my shoulder a few years ago

This sounded so implausible I had to look into it. It turns out to be pseudoscientific theory based on a misunderstanding of this study: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0928468009000881

The researchers speculated that metal bed springs might actually reduce the risk of cancer by shielding the sleeper from radio waves. That also seems very far-fetched though, as there is no known cancer risk from radio waves, as far as I know - they simply don't have enough energy to damage DNA.

Or you are looking for budget we are very happy with our Ikea hovag (they do normal sizes as well as euro sizes these days). We got ours cheap in the bargain corner as there was a mark from a hole in the wrapper
