Tell me your favourite Campsites/holiday villages in France

Growing up we had many Eurocamp holidays in France. I have very fond memories of them so have been trying to recreate it for my own children (4 +7yrs). For the past 3 years we have stayed in various Yelloh! Campsites in their cabins and have had a fantastic time. I always feel like it's a bit of a gamble when choosing where to stay as photos can be misleading, so just wondered if anyone has any recommendations.

The criteria:

Near the beach (preferably with surf but not a necessity)
Waterslides
Play park
No more than 7 hour drive from Saint-Malo

Thank you in advance!

We went to loads of good ones with Eurocamps. I think any on their website will be ok.

Sorry I don’t have any but can you recommend any of the yelloh sites you’ve stayed at?

Les Grand Pins - great surf, fantastic sprawling pool and excellent kids entertainment (but not in your face) Lots of different accommodation. Big play park. Bike hire.

Les Mouettes - huge lagoon like swimming pool, 3 water slides, big splash park for younger children and large indoor pool.
Very clean and new accommodation surrounded by bushes and flowers so good privacy.
Big playground and near lots of little beaches and an island you can only get to at low tide.

We like La Plage and Raguénès-Plage in Brittany but both are small compared to the two you’ve listed above, and the playground at Raguénès-Plage is a bit iffy.

fruitypancake · 24/02/2020 06:50

La rive is great and has all those things but is quite big/busy

firsttimemumhere · 24/02/2020 06:59

Yelloh village de la plage near Le Guilvinec in west Brittany.
Eurocamp in Benodet near Brittany.
Both near the beach, little towns and friendly locals. Lived there for 6 months and lived every second of it working for Eurocamp!

Dolphin gites

Doesn’t fully fit your criteria, bit a lovely gite site with a pool and playing area.

Can’t remember full name, but Something Les Deux Fontaines was our favourite and fits all your criteria. Also La Grande Metairie near Carnac.

rosy71 · 24/02/2020 07:11

Domaine des Ormes in Brittany - loads to do
La Vallee in Normandy - quieter but walking distance to beach & town

rosy71 · 24/02/2020 07:12

Both the above have water slides.

skankingpiglet · 24/02/2020 07:17

La Rive and Domaine des Ormes are great.

Following with interest

We loved Le Clarys Plage in the Vendee. Fab swimming pools and playgrounds, and a few minites' stroll from a gorgeous sandy beach.

FickleTickle · 24/02/2020 09:07

firsttimemum how was working for Eurocamp? My daughter is hoping to apply next year but knows no one who had done it (or has any interest in doing it)

Anyway, campsites: Le Littoral near Les sables d'Olonne and Les Mathes as well as Ilbarritz and Playa Joyel in Spain. The last two too far for you OP though.

Lifesabeach86 · 24/02/2020 12:16

Thank you for recommendations! Will start researching them now

We stayed here www.facebook.com/CampingCampeoleNavarrosse/

It’s on a lakeside beach that has boats and SUPs for hire.
Cycle path all around the lake. Inflatable water park on the lake
Short drive to the beach for surfing
Near Dune de Pilat
And Arcachon
We loved it

firsttimemumhere · 25/02/2020 19:06

@FickleTickle it was one of the best things I have done. I worked outside Venice for 3 months closing the sites down and then west Brittany for 6 months opening the sites, working the season and then closing the sites. It's a bit like going to Uni at first but I made lifelong friends and we still talk now. You are usually on the site with other companies as well so there are loads of people about! I'd recommend giving it a go, especially if you get somewhere really nice, you get to explore the local area as well!

QueenofLouisiana · 25/02/2020 20:23

Camping falaise in Narbonne Plage. It’s 10 minutes from a beach, which was relatively quiet, and near the resort for restaurants, night markets, shops etc. The site had kids clubs, including activities for teenagers (donut surfing, sports, bbqs)

Lovely and warm, but don’t leave any food out as there are lots of ants!

Notquitethefirestarter · 25/02/2020 20:58

I got engaged at Les Grand Pins - lovely place!

This is just down the road and just as nice. I wouldn’t recommend the caravans, just the big safari tents which are amazing:
