To find the cotswolds really snooty?

What is it about the cotswolds that makes people really snotty?
Sure there are some lovely people there, but the more often I visit the more I realise how snotty it is.

Yes the architecture is pretty, but the landscapes are pretty unexciting.
I've come across normal people in pubs who have been very arrogant, self assured, and think they're better than other people. Openly looking down on the welsh, scots, french etc.

How are ordinary people so posh too? Dress up like it's the 1930s, or with a love for things like cath kidiston, wearing barbour, hunter jackets etc. Then you find out they live in a normal little 3 bed cottage and work as a teacher or something.

Most friendly place I’ve ever lived. People chat to each other, say good morning, help each other out. The scenery, landscapes, views are breathtaking in the right places. House prices are a fraction of what we would pay in the South East. Why can’t people who live in three bed cottages wear Barbour?! It’s fashionable as well, but most of the people who wear it here have 10+ year old coats that have lasted them years!
Maybe it’s you OP and people just don’t like you.. can’t imagine why 🤣

Just watched this country uncomfortable viewing if you were a teen living rurally*

I can't watch it. It hits a bit too close to home somehow

It's a shame that anyone feels inferior when standing next to someone wearing a Barbour Jacket, Kath Kidston etc. It's a shame that confidence about who you are and what you are are can not over ride this feeling of not being as worthy. In reality, those people in those expensive clothes have probably worked incredibly hard in places like London, which is not an easy place to live. Their need for quality clothing has probably come from their experience of buying cheaper clothing which has not lasted as long as they needed. I think it's good to understand and learn from people who have in our eyes 'made it,' because their life experience will not only be a valuable lesson to us, but might even surprise us. I was born in the Cotswolds, went to both primary, junior and senior school here. I moved to London for work and it was a really challenging place to live. My parents were immigrants and brought us up to all work hard, save the pennies, share, love and to never envy anyone. If we wanted to change our accent we could and probably did along the way. I have always wanted to sound clear and concise, so to me, I now sound great. But if to someone else, I sound SNOOTY, is that a bad thing? I don't think that it is. There are so many bad characteristic that someone could have ! I think that if you hear a lovely, clear voice, there's an opportunity to enjoy and perhaps learn how to sound clearer in your speech. Then one day you will pass it on too, helping that person to be understood easily.

There are a lot of second home owners keeping up with the Jones's in the Cotswolds. It's insecurity and misplaced aspirations!
