How do *you* pronounce these words?

Iinclude what city/area/country you live in.

Do you pronounce mischievous as ‘miss-chi-vus’ or ‘miss-chee-veeous’ or other?

Do you pronounce often as ‘offen’ or ‘off-ton’ or other?

Do you pronounce neither as ‘knee-ther’ or nigh-ther’ or other?

I should have added: Midlands here, and it’s miss-chee-veeous, off-ton and knee-ther for me

Bigearringsbigsmile · 23/02/2020 14:59

Mischeeverus is just wrong.
Not a dialect issue, just an incorrect issue.

TedsFederationRep · 23/02/2020 15:01

I say Barth. Not Baath

Ah but many Bathonians say "Baa-a-th" with a kind of triple A, in that lovely West Country accent. I like to think my flat Northern vowels are with them in sympathy!

KittiesInsane · 23/02/2020 15:02

Why does anyone say 'mis-CHEE-vee-us' when it ends just -vous and not -vious? I don't understand that one.

The others -- depends. Probably offen and nye-ther.
