Gather round Aldi camembert fans- gone is the snottyness that has ruined it for over a year

Bought one yesterday and it is back to its silky consistency and mushroomy, pongy twang . Just scoffed another one today Grin with salat, homemade chutney and sourdough toast. Bloody lovely...

I’m just posting to thank you for introducing me to the word unctuousness

Gatekeeper · 23/02/2020 14:17

I am most likely not using the word in its correct meaning but in my mind it sounds silky, glossy, delicious, divine

I am SO pleased I have seen this as I was a huge fan of it and gutted when it went all yucky! What made you try it again, though? I was totally put off it and definitely wouldn't have bought it again.

Gatekeeper · 23/02/2020 20:21

@MsVestibule

dh bought it on a whim and I'm so glad he did Grin - sent him back today to buy some more!

So if one eats a camembert with sugar snap peas, celery and carrots and no bread do you think it counts as one of your 5 a day? 🙄

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 24/02/2020 16:08

I had an Aldi camembert the other week and had to spit it out as it tasted so horrible!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/02/2020 16:52

In what way?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 24/02/2020 17:14

I really don't like French cheeses at all but, if ever I was to be tempted, it would be this thread that had made me do it! Shock

Every one of you ought to be working for the International Cheese Appreciation Society (if there is one). Grin

I've bought one and I'm eagerly anticipating Saturday, which is the only day I can eat Camembert. Apart from Christmas Eve, of course.

Nigel's comments have tempered my excitement a little, though. I'll report back on Sunday.

Gatekeeper · 27/02/2020 13:06

I'm worried now...what if they are still shite and its me that's at odds with the world!!!

Consistency improved that's for sure as they had turned into a kind of snotty, frogspawny, jizzy gloop!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/02/2020 15:51

How can you keep one until Saturday, they are so stinky and ripe? No way could I put one in the fridge Grin

MsVestibule · 27/02/2020 17:32

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor it doesn't smell in the slightest!! Not until I take it out of its packaging, when I inhale it's delicious aroma 😋. I bet you buy yours from an artisanal cheeserie, don't you? Not Aldi, like the rest of us plebs.

@gatekeeper it was the texture I particularly objected to (very accurate description, BTW) so if that's improved significantly, I'll be very happy!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/02/2020 18:21

No, I'm an Aldi shopper,it even honked the car out on the way home. It was soooooo ripe 😂

Gatekeeper · 27/02/2020 20:38

scoffed a Munster cheese tonight...jolly nice

I will be fotty clem this time next week ....if you understand this- you live near me Grin >
