What to do with old clothes?

My ds is a teen and as they do he's shot up over the past 18months.

Therefore I have a quite a number of nice condition clothes (mainly next and supermarket).

I want to do something useful with it.

A) do refuges take clothes? I read so many heartbreaking stories here about woman and children fleeing DV with just the clothes on their back.

B) charity shop? Both my parents have cancer so would donate to McMillan.

C) sell myself? I would donate this to charity but I don't think selling Fb pages/ boot sale etc actually makes much? My mum does have an account for relay for life so I can donate to that and often do cake sales or raffles for this throughout the year.

Does anyone know what's best? My preference would be action A but I'm not sure that you can do this?

I saw a post on facebook yesterday of someone with a large amount of kids clothes, offering them for free to families who fostered children. they sometimes arrive with just the clothes they are wearing so it's helpful to the families to have a stock of different sized clothes avaliable

Oh sleep that's a fantastic idea. Hadn't thought of that! Thanks

Local hospital might take them. Lots of people arrive with nothing or no one to bring anything in. The hospital I work in is not allowed to send patients home in night clothes or hospital gowns so we need a stock of clothes

Oh another good idea thanks.

I really do want them to go to use to someone who 'needs' them.

Local Women's Refuge centre, apparently they get lots of donations of baby clothes and almost none for older children and teens.

I too was going to suggest your local A&E department or social work department in a hospital. When I worked in one, we'd often have to cut clothes off people, they were covered in blood/vomit or people came in homeless and their clothes were unwearable.

Some shelters/homeless charities take them-especially warm socks, underwear, hats, thermals, shoes etc

I've sold on ebay, but unless its a designer brand, you will be lucky to make a few £'s and the time to weigh things, make the advert, get good photos often isnt worth it.
