Any tips for a cheap good quality mattress

I need to get a new single mattress for dd's bed. I don't want to spend loads but don't want it to last a year and then be uncomfortable. Any tips for good affordable ones please.

In my experience cheap and good quality do not go together when referring to a mattress.

just bought a Breasley uno deluxe, the newer version of one we've had on another (adult) bed for ages and is lasting well. A memory foam mattress topper is an optional extra , about £20 if you have a poundstretcher near you.

don't buy from Dunelm though, took a month and three attempts to get the thing!

remember all new mattresses now come rolled. Leave at least 24 hours before using, and due to the new mattress stink you'll probably want to make that a week in a well-aired room.

one of the Dunelm blunders was to send a pocket sprung, all singing all dancing memory foam job. That absolutely REEKED for the five days it was here even when wrapped in plastic. Don't buy anything too flashy unless it is summer and you can leave it outside for a month to air.

I’d recommend Ikea if you don’t want to spend too much. Dc have had them in the past and they’ve lasted well. But generally yes, you get what you pay for. Our mattress cost more than my car but I’ve not regretted it as I’ve got such bad hip and back problems that a bad mattress would have made them a million times worse. I’d recommend looking on eBay for ex display models if you want something a bit more supportive, we got ours at half the retail price and it’s absolutely fine.

Another ikea recommendation here. We've got a Hovag kingsize which was less than £200. We've got no issues with it and I find it more comfortable than the expensive mattress we had.

Ikea. Mine is awesome.

Simba or such like .. so comfy .. years ago Argos used to do a memory foam mattress that came rolled up... both my kids have it and it's so comfy still! .. recently I sat on my freinds kids bed and it had hard springs poking through. .. bloody awful for him and she didn't realise as she never sat on it .

You can get a memory foam mattress from eBay for around 60.

Ikea. Best sleep we've ever had but it did pong a bit. Leave it unwrapped on its side if you can and 48hrs later all gone.
