Where to holiday in the UK with two young children?

We’re looking to go away in the summer holidays in the UK (5-7 days) we can’t decide where to go we have 2 young DD’s they will be 5 & 2 by then. We live in Kent & don’t want to travel anymore than 3/4 hours in the car. Looking for lots of activities to do as you can never guarantee the weather. Maybe would like a nice beach nearby.

We’ve already looked at Center Parcs & its working out too pricey for us. I appreciate nowhere will be cheap as it’s school holidays but if anyone recommends anywhere so I can take a little look that would be great. Thank you Smile

Isle of Wight. Feels like a “proper” holiday due to the ferry crossing. Then when you are there: farm park; beach; Blackgang Chine; steam train etc.

North Norfolk. Lovely beaches, lots of NT houses.

I second Norfolk although not necessarily the north coast- loads to do for the age group and its not far from you. Try the hoseasons parks. 5* luxury they aren't but lots of amenities for the kids and a good base for going out and about and exploring the area.

We are off to snowdonia for a week. It's with hoseasons and is around 1300 for a 3 bed chalet with hot tub in the school holidays. Much cheaper than centre parks and lots to do around North Wales. We have a 6 and a 1 year old. The 6 year old is bonkers for trains.

We have 3 children aged 9, 6 and 4 and we had the BEST holiday in Pembrokeshire 2 years ago, so much so we are going back this Summer for a week. Loads of very reasonable cottages or air b n b's (much cheaper than center parcs) and tonnes to do in the area. The beaches are stunning - Barafundle bay and Marloes sands in particular. Folly farm was a brill day out, there is Blue lagoon swim pool, Pembroke castle, wildlife parks etc

Oh I can also second Pembrokeshire. We went to bluestone in October and there's so much to do around there! We would go back to the area but stay in b and bs next time (cheaper!) as we could still do the same activities!

Thanks everyone, will look at these areas x

Tenby (Pembrokeshire) is lovely. We used to stay in a farmhouse nearby, at Lydstep, when my children were small and we had some fabulous holidays.

Isle of Wight, absolutely loads to do. We've been for the last 4 summer holidays. We stayed in Ryde, it's near the ferry and very accessible. The beach is great (although the tide goes out very far) there is a little funfair, parks with play areas, nice shops. The island is not very big so easy to explore. Loads of tourist attractions but lovely beaches, scenery, walks etc too.
We live in Kent too so not too far.

It's a bit over the 4 hours but there is a place called Coombe mill in Cornwall. Self catering on a farm. It's fantastic for that age.

We've stayed at Searles in Hunstanton a few times. It's got a good pool and a soft play. Hunstanton is tacky but DS loves the fair there. There are prettier beaches a short drive away.

Isle of Wight is gorgeous and feels like a proper holiday due to the ferry crossing. Loads to do too. I have lovely memories of holidays there with my DD when they were little.
Check out Alum Bay - there's all sorts there including a little fun fair, coloured sands, sweet factory and chair lift.
Compton Bay is a wonderful beach. Blackgang chine and Robin Hill make for fun days out. Also Osborne House and Carisbroke Castle

My children loved the Dorset coast when they were little.
