Loo in utility room

Would it put you off having a downstairs loo where you had to go through the kitchen? We are going to add a utility to a small kitchen and are thinking of putting a downstairs toilet in. It would be in it's own room in the utility.

I would say that’s a fairly common layout.

It’s very common around here to have your entire bathroom off the kitchen.

That’s what we have...go through the kitchen, into the utility and then through another door to the loo. The door to the loo is sliding to have more space. It works fine.

We've done that. Works fine for us. We have a back door through the utility too so the loo is also easy access from the garden.

Our downstairs loo is off the utility room. It's a fairly common design.

Our downstairs toilet is off the utility room which goes off our dining room which you have to get to through the kitchen . Never seemed weird for us !

AhoyMrBeaver · 22/02/2020 18:21

I think that would be ok. I would make sure the toilet was as far from the door as possible and that it wasn't visible when the door opens. Even better if a simple privacy partition around the toilet is possible.

Or do you mean a separate toilet room through a utility room as pp has?

SallyWD · 22/02/2020 18:25

It's fine. Very common. We have a loo in our utility room too.

ProperVexed · 22/02/2020 18:30

We've got a shower room off our utility. It's fine!

Toomuchgoingon · 22/02/2020 19:05

We did exactly this and it's fine.

My sons downstairs loo is actually off the kitchen. Mnay new houses arelike this now

Mumof1andacat · 22/02/2020 21:43

Would the loo have a door to it? I'm thinking of bugs surrounding the toilet especially when you flush

Dearover · 22/02/2020 21:46

Our house has a large kitchen with a small utility at one end. The downstairs loo is through the utility. It's never been a problem and is more spacious than cramming it under the stairs like a lot of new builds do.
