Dd is turning 12 next week and is having a few friends over.

She wants to make their own subways at home. What bread would you use?

What fillings?

Has anyone done it before? 🙈

That really does sound like fun!

I’d get some greaseproof paper to wrap and some paper lunch bags to ‘pack’ the food (include a drink, crisps and fruit).

Everything ready in small bowls ready to assemble and a few types of mini baguette.

Cheese
Ham
Chicken
Salami
Salads
Onions - tomato - cucumber - peppers - olives - gherkins
Salad sauces/dressings

Sit down with a movie...

There will be about 5 kids with a toddler who will get involved 😂

I’m so excited! They are off to the cinema first :)

We have a sub sandwich shop near us that will do platters with all the elements. It’s not cheap, but we did it one year when time was precious.

runrabbitrunrunrun · 22/02/2020 19:06

Omg! That sounds like an awesome party!!!
Maybe do some soft baked cookies for after 😋

TheSpottedZebra · 22/02/2020 19:47

Maybe as there are 'only' 5 12yos, do an edited menu, eg meatballs, chicken, ham + toppings. Unless you're a massive fan of leftover meats. You could print up the menu, and call it eg EllaWay. Even get branded napkins, and do water bottles / tote bags instead of tat.

I’d use those part baked baguettes they hold together better
Check for any dietary requirements
I’d get some cured meat/cheese/pickles/salad stuff and whack them under the grill when they’ve put them all together.

BigFatLiar · 22/02/2020 19:57

Not sure if its in the spirit but some pizza

This is a wonderful age OP and one day you will look back and yearn for the days when your DC could be entertained all evening by making sandwiches Grin

I did a pizza party for my dd and they loved it. Got some of the small cheese and tomato pizzas from aldi each then did a load of toppings in little balls on the table. Mozzarella sweetcorn salami ham chicken they all loved it. So I didn't get them mixed up when cooking them we wrote each person's name on baking paper 😁

M&S sub rolls are really good if subway won't sell you any.

JustForTheTasteOfIt · 22/02/2020 20:48

Oh man this is too cute!!

Sickofyoutube · 22/02/2020 21:08

I’m so excited 😂🙈

Call me a killjoy, but by the time you’ve bought all the fillings and toppings and sauces etc it will probably end up costing you more than just going to subway! If they’re going to the cinema anyway, why not take them into subway when you’re there and then get the cookies etc to take home for after? #lazyparentingalert

TinklyLittleLaugh · 22/02/2020 21:44

That sounds great.

We’ve done similar parties with pizzas, mocktails and ice cream sundaes.

Sickofyoutube · 22/02/2020 22:38

Because what’s the fun in doing it at subway Grin

i used to work for subway when i was in college and we had someone come in and ask for supplies (we happily gave them). im sure, if you go in and ask nicely (and maybe offer to pay although they will have no way to put it through the register so should tell you not to worry about it), you could ask for straws, napkins, cups and the paper wrapping :). Just explain your daughter has a thing for subway. its free advertising for them.
