Can anyone give me ideas how to spend a birthday alone ? Everyone is working and I just need to find something nice to do in the daytime.
All suggestions appreciated.

If it was me, haircut as my salon does head massages after your hair wash!
Then prob a nice coffee shop for lunch - sitting far from any dc!
And a decent magazine to read!

Stuckupsnob · 22/02/2020 15:19

Oh thanks Why, I’ve already had my hair done but I like the magazine idea :)

Find your nearest day spa and pamper yourself.

I thought of the spa idea, it’s a possibility

I'd take my kindle for a nice brunch somewhere, bit of shopping, followed by getting my nails done or a blow dry (or both) if I was going out in the evening.

nicknamehelp · 22/02/2020 15:24

nice country walk nice cafe for lunch

AdaColeman · 22/02/2020 15:26

You need Cake Cake Cake
Maybe afternoon tea out somewhere?
Or go to see a film, something light and cheerful.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 22/02/2020 15:31

Nice relaxing bath, go somewhere nice to shop and buy myself some small luxury. Buy something nice for lunch, either out or to bring home. Buy some nice chocs and then head home early afternoon to watch a box set or a couple of films.

Stuckupsnob · 22/02/2020 15:31

Thanks everyone, any more ideas ?

Has anyone got ideas that are a little unusual. For eg I’d like to ride a double decker bus and sit at the top at the front, but I’m in the country, and just not possible for Thursday next week, just something simple and unusual. Just looking for something different.

Without knowing what part of the country you're in, it's not easy to know what's available in your area. But a couple of ideas are, take a journey on a steam train, make a trip on a slip wire (North Wales), see what a nearby zoo or museum offers such as holding tarantulas or walking in a bat house.

Stuckupsnob · 22/02/2020 16:15

Thanks Ada, there are zoos near me, that’s a great idea.
I thought this post would be useful for others who spend birthdays by themselves too.

Is there any what near you that does canal/ river trips or if this grotty weather continues indoor dry ski slope or one of them indoor sky driving things .
Or are if any local factory does tours / tasting days .

AdaColeman · 22/02/2020 16:34

lollybee1 · 22/02/2020 16:35

I went to work then watched some telly.

Whynosnowyet · 22/02/2020 16:37

My birthday is also our wedding anniversary! 5 years this year so dh better be planning something!

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 22/02/2020 16:38

National Trust? Take a picnic of favourite things. Or could you go away to a hotel for the night near an interesting place?

Miranda15110 · 22/02/2020 16:42

Spa day! Followed by a lovely dinner x

Solongtoshort · 22/02/2020 16:47

I had my birthday alone last year l had a late breakfast by myself and then went to see Queen at the cinema it finished on time to pick the kids up then we went for out for dinner. It was actually the best birthday as l pleased myself instead of waiting for people to do something for me. This years birthday was a major let down, l had unexpected guests just turn up and expected me to wait on them.

Stuckupsnob · 22/02/2020 16:58

Fab ideas, lol Solo, I know what you mean.. I love going to the cinema by myself to see a chic flick, I like your ideas ALC. really hope dh does something special for you.

Have a look on local fb groups to see if there are any classes or workshops to try out?

I went on a long day trip to Paris on the Eurostar one year, starting early and coming back late. I bought a travel card and visited the Eiffel Tower and The Louvre then viewed the other famous sights one is meant to see when in Paris. I also got chatted up by a French gardener, so, bonus!
