Having a panic - is it really impossible to find love in your 30s?

I am probably about to become single (my choice) shortly and am 28, 29 soon. No children. I thought I was confident in my choice (long time coming, spark gone etc) and I’ve just read a stupid Daily Fail article about how much harder it is for women in their 30s to find partners.

Is this true?! I guess the good ones are taken and maybe men in their thirties are more attracted to younger women in their 20s?

Sorry if this sounds ridiculous, but having a bit of a panic. I know I’m “young” but just don’t know if I should be trying to make this relationship work instead.

I met my husband when I was 29, now happily married with two children.

I met my DP when I was 36. We met through OLD. After an unsatisfying relationship until my early 30's I was determined I wasn't going to just settle. I had loads of fun meeting people through OLD. As soon as I met my DP I knew I wasn't settling.

For those who did OLD, which site/app did you use?

I was 31, tinder. I already had dc from previous marriage. We now live together. He is slightly younger than me with no children of his own. I am the happiest I have ever been.

It's not brain surgery op. If you are in your 20s or 30s, reasonably attractive, not visibly emotionally unstable, and want to*, you are very likely to be able to find a partner.

*IMO, some people your age ish bemoan their singleness, but they don't actually want to find a partner. E.g., they allow their distaste of dating apps or fear of meeting strangers to take precedence over looking for a partner. In these cases, obviously you'll see a reduction in success.

If you are reasonably confident in yourself and are putting yourself out there, you will find someone. It will be fine. Keep your nerve, ime the best way to be confident is to work on your relationship with yourself until you realize that you don't NEED a relationship, you'd just like to have one.

@Splitsunrise It was 5 years ago but I used Plenty of Fish. You just need to sort the wheat from the chaff. I didn't actively hunt for a relationship. In fact, when I agreed to go on a date with DP I'd agreed to go on dates with 7 other men! I was bored over Christmas, what can I say Wink

Other ways to meet someone in your 30s- speedddater.co.uk (speed dating nights), public transport, sailing, golf, cycling club, toast masters, dance classes, language cafe, park run, meetup.com, match.com singles nights (friend met partner aged 36).

Met dh at 35. Married with 2 dc by the time I was 38.
He's amazing, and 10 years on we are very happy.
I had a busy social life but friends kept coupling off so ended up online dating. Best decision I ever made.
