Why does my baby always cry to get her nappy changed ?

Hi all, our baby girl is 3 months old and since she was born she has always cried to want her nappy changed. We could changed her then after 5/10mins she’ll pee again then cry to want her nappy to be changed. Is this normal? What can we do to help her? She’s on Aptamil and she’s now on Aldi nappies. We always use wipes to clean her and put cream on her afterwards, so we still don’t know why she screams the house down to want her nappy to be changed. She’s our first child by the way, so parenting is new to us. Many Thanks

How do you know for certain it's because she wants her nappy changed? It might be that she just fancies getting your attention, or has reflux or is just generally being a 3 month old baby?

It's not necessary to put cream on for every nappy change by the way, it can stop the nappies absorbing properly.

Honestly, try not to worry.

Does she have sensitive skin? Maybe she doesn't like the cream ?

My dd was the same but then grew out of it x

They just don't like being in a wet nappy. One of mine was happy being wet but screamed if dirty. The other two, wet or dirty, wanted changing instantly or screamed blue murder.

Imagine sitting in a soggy nappy. Not pleasant. Some babies are fussier than others

My daughter was the same. She would cry when she had a wee. Sometimes she would cry just before having a wee, as soon as the nappy came off she would start to wee. I worried after some Googling that it could be a sign of a water infection but the GP tested a urine sample and all was clear. We were referred to hospital (not for just this one issue, I had a few other questions) and the Dr said some babies are like that. It may be that she doesn't like the sensation of weeing. He said it could actually be a benefit when we come to potty train that she is aware when she needs to wee.

Either way she completely grew out of it. She's 11 months now but the crying when weeing stopped many months ago now.

If you are concerned ask the GP

Mine hates a dirty or wet nappy. She's now 13months and is still the same. I've learnt her body language, so know when she's been to the toilet and is getting uncomfortable but before she screams the place down.

To be fair, I wouldn't like sitting in a damp, rapidly cooling jelly. As they get older they go longer between going to the toilet so it gets easier.

Also stop with all the cream, that can't be nice for her.

And she may well need other things when she cries.

Have you tried different nappy brands?

Where as DS would have allowed you to dip him in hot tar and feather him before rolling him in snow if I could keep the boob in his mouth whilst you did it.
