Hi
I'm 24 weeks pregnant and so far pregnancy has been shit. I'm throwing up daily, I have no energy, I'm sweaty and greasy haired, I'm miserable basically but one symptom is literally ruining my life.

I have such intense pain in my vagina. It's like it's bruised or swollen or I've been kicked? It's absolute agony and makes walking or rolling over in bed or doing ANYTHING extremely painful. Midwife says it's common and nothing I can do but it's hell on earth. I've tried heat pads, I've tried pregnancy pillows, I've tried paracetamol, I've tried pregnancy belts. I can't cope and have even googled late term abortions as it's so painful I cry most of the day.

What can I do??

Could it be SPD? Has the mw referred you to a specialist women's physio?

Thisisgreen · 21/02/2020 20:50

Agree with the pp that it could be SPD, aka PGP - have a look at the NHS website for Pelvic Pain in Pregnancy. You should be assessed by a physio to see if that could be the cause. Keep pushing as her explanation is not good enough.

I had this from about 28-30 weeks and while there is no cure there are things you can do to make yourself more comfortable I.e keep your knees together (put a plastic bag on car seat and swivel yourself in/out keeping your knees together), sleep with a pillow between your knees etc, rest etc.

Might be vulval varicose veins that aren't that common. Support tights can help

I absolutely feel for you. I've said for months (I'm 32weeks) that my vagina feels like it's been kicked by a horse and I cant turn over in bed. In the morning is so painful I have actually crawled to the bathroom before as I'm weak.

Midwife said could be varicous veins but nothing seemed to be there so I'm assuming its SPD/PGP. I've managed to just work through the pain so I've no advice but wanted you to know you're not alone ! EVERY SINGLE PERSON I've asked has looked at me funny like theyve no idea what I'm talking about.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! She said it didn't present like SPD so hasn't referred me to a physio which is frustrating.

It's just hellish and I really feel like I can't cope for much longer with it. The baby is viable now and I keep googling how to go about getting him out early just to stop this sodding pain.

GP told me it was an issue for midwife so that was no help at all.

I had this first pregnancy - am currently 16 weeks and its started already!!

My only suggestion .... you know the fanta drinks bottle? With the round sort of top and the narrow neck.... freeze one and place iver lady parts!

Was the perfect shape and offered some relief!

Phoenix76 · 21/02/2020 21:42

Could you try and put some maternity pads in the fridge for some relief until someone starts listening? I suffered with “lightning crutch” but what you’re describing sounds even more painful. Good luck hope you get some relief soon.

Jessikka · 22/02/2020 09:22

@OP I understand as I was fobbed off too. Noone can tell me what it is but I've found mine is worse if I sit down. I find after a few mins of standing up and shuffling forward it eases!

Thanks everyone, will def try some of the ideas suggested and am seeing midwife this week so am going to bring it up again.
