Help me overcome the chairdrobe/wardrobe dilemma!

I know the obvious answer is to just to just put the clothes back in the wardrobe after wearing, but the thought of that makes me feel a bit iffy. But I'm sick of clothes ending up on the floor in a corner 🙈 I'm not too bad as I will generally wear the clothes again the next day, but my husband won't do that for work so often has 3-4 items thrown over a chair or placed not neatly on the floor.

There must be some sort of a compact storage solution. Or a wash basket with a special extension for storing such items

I had 'the chair' then I brought a small clothes rail, which worked but was a bit awkward to fit in our room.

I now have a small square ottoman that I put the clothes in, and it doubles up as a seat for when I'm doing my make up etc.

Ooh I like the idea of the ottoman, I think that might work for us! The clothes rail not so much, as the whole issue I have with the clothes being out is that they attract dust.

Why not just put them on the chair?

I don’t get it. Surely if they are clean enough to wear they are clean enough to go back in the wardrobe? Maybe have a little bit at one end for re-wearables.

MasterOfCaffeine · 21/02/2020 12:04

I got rid of the chair of doom because when clothes got put on the chair, they ended up piled up and the stuff at the bottom gets forgotten about (by DH not me). Plus, we didn't really have the room for the chair in the first place, and I was sick to death of looking at the dressing gown of doom 😂 (which now lives in a pile in the corner which is equally annoying).

My main bugbear is the clothes attracting dust and looking untidy so would prefer them tidied away. But I suppose the only option there is using the wardrobe, or an ottoman as pp said.

Have you got anywhere you could hang a few hooks? I've got some on the outside, side of my wardrobe for dressing gowns and other bits and bobs.

Better than a Floordrobe

We've got the bench in our bedroom for discarded clothes of an evening. A few times a week, I go through it, give it a sniff test and then either throw in the washing basket or put away. It piles up quickly as we both often exercise of an evening, so get changed a few times a day.
