Hey just now I’m using a sling and buggy but want to buy a double instead any recommendations my son 4 is more the size of a 5 year old so I think my options are limited

Phil and teds has a big front seat, would sit a seven year old still.

gaffamate · 20/02/2020 21:16

Use a buggy board!

NameChange30 · 20/02/2020 21:21

Why does a 4 year old "need" a pushchair? Do they have a health condition or disability?

DS will be 3.5 when DC2 is born and I wasn't planning on getting a double buggy!

Surely a buggy board will do?

Because sometimes a 4 yr old can't or won't walk to a place at the speed required/in the time available.

roses2 · 20/02/2020 21:25

My mountain buggy was used until my son turned 6.

Baby jogger city mini

Whome91 · 20/02/2020 21:29

Phil n teds looks good Thanks !
I’m not going to comment on why i put my son in a pushchair full time still

Phil and teds but they are very heavy best pushchair I’ve had

itsgettingweird · 20/02/2020 21:34

Phil and teds are great.

If it's for disability reasons there are many wheelchair buggies out there that are double. Charities like new life will help with costs as they are £££££s!

Sorry if my question came across as snarky.
I don't have a 4 year old yet so perhaps my expectations are unrealistic?

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 20/02/2020 21:37

Phil and teds. It’s a beast and a bit cumbersome but we use it for 6yo and he fits fine

Robertwars · 20/02/2020 21:39

Phil and Ted's were great for my two at that age. They are now six and nine and walk miles but having the double buggy was a life saver for nursery runs and getting to work on time / home in rain.

FairyJuice · 20/02/2020 21:39

I had a baby jogger city mini double and also an out n about double and both are suitable for newborns and fitted a big 4 year old. I much preferred the baby jogger as it folded easier, was more compact and had better hoods but needed to switch to the out n about in the end as I needed to add a buggy board and couldn't find one that worked comfortably with the baby jogger.

I will say though, unless you are going to use it regularly and get good mileage out of it then you might be better off with a buggy board on a single. Doubles are so expensive and bloody cumbersome 🙈

FairyJuice · 20/02/2020 21:41

Also, both of the ones I mentioned are super light, but are side by side so quite wide. The out n about didn't fit through my front door while open which was a huge pain.

UnexpectedItemInTheShaggingAre · 20/02/2020 21:44

Mountain buggy duet or out and about nipper would be fab

EmmaJR1 · 20/02/2020 21:58

I have the out and about nipper for my nearly 3 yo and nearly 2yo. Nearly 3yo is massive. It's really easy to manoeuvre and fold down/put up but the basket is tiny and hard to get to.

It's good size wise though, they are both comfortable and can lay down if needed.

SpencerReidsMistress · 20/02/2020 22:02

Silver cross coast or a Quinny Hubb Duo? :)

mistermagpie · 20/02/2020 22:22

Baby jogger city mini. I have a two year old and a three month old, so it's for them, but I also have a nearly five year old and he can easily fit into it if the mood takes him!

Whome91 · 21/02/2020 10:10

Buggy board isn’t a option unfortunately. I’m actually wondering if a new. Baby carrier would be better.

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 21/02/2020 12:41

I have an Ergobaby Adapt that i used for DS and plan to use for DC2. I was thinking the carrier, pushchair and buggy board combo could be a winner - but perhaps I'm missing something?!

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 21/02/2020 13:51

Phil and Ted's sport is great. As others have said it's heavy (to lift into a boot for example) but great to push.
You can often get them second hand on FB marketplace for under £100

Whome91 · 21/02/2020 13:54

Yeah I think I’m going look for a Phil n teds 2nd hand tho as I think that’s my best option

Side note I’m in Edinburgh if anyone has one for sale Grin
