Would you buy this caravan?

We are caravan people and have had a realllllly old caravan for the last 5 years, bought to try out caravanning.

We totally love it. Current caravan has a number of flaws such as the loo leaks, running water is intermittent, hob is intermittent and we had a majoy flood once in heavy rain

We are quite particular about what we want as we need a 5 berth minimum, it must be European /german, we want single axle and thr cherry on the cake is that we don't have to make up our bed every day into the seating area.

We have found one that meets this criteria but it is 20k. We can down pay about 5k and then if we got a loan for the remainder we would be able to pay it off by Xmas.

Alternatives are, managing with this one another year or compromising somewhere and buying another old dog.

Happy to give more info as requested.

How old are your children? If nearly teens you have to consider how many years they will still want to be going away with you.
I liked the idea of a fixed bed but we felt it wasn't worth it, instead if we were set up for a few nights we would turn the awning into living and eating space and leave the bed down but it still gave us the option to use the bed area as seating if needed. This isn't ideal if constantly moving though.

You say you have an awning just now but will it fit on your new van? What do you use the awning for if all the toys and wet coats end up on your bed?

If you purchase the caravan for £20k and sleep 30 nights a yea inside for 5 years, the cost is £133 per year.

If you then sell the van for £5k you’d get £33 per night back

So a cost of £100 in your own luxury home on wheels

It always, seems to rain when we arrive or stay somewhere only one night. Awning is fine if we are there more than 2 but we do travel atound quite a bit. Lots of long journeys

Interesting sums ivykaty thanks.. (Shock)

It is a wet one

For years my next caravan was going to be a hobby, then I discovered Knaus. 😁

Go for it. You know you want to!

Fixed beds are amazing by the way. After years of faffing about with making up beds I am in heaven with our fixed bed.

If you went away to a hotel with 4 people, your not going to see change out of £130 a night, then purchasing food.

I’d suggest though a trip to Birmingham and have a good look around at the caravans before you make a final decision, buying privately maybe a better option if you know which vans you like
