Have been here a good few years, met some amazing people, made some great friendships, and had some very supportive advice, but now I think it is time to leave - I don't think I fit here any more, maybe a reflection of the divisions in our society or of my rapidly increasing age !

Love and peace to all x

You shouldn't leave Kurri.
I've been on here with various name changes for the last 13 years and I think MN is just going through one of its awkward phases again what with some of the snipping/viciousness & bear baiting let alone the trolls.
MN needs us old timers to keep things on an even keel & to & welcome those genuine & kind new MNetters and also to show that disagreeing is normal if done in a kind & constructive manner.
Yes we all have off days & can be a bit viperish at times but everyones heart was/in in the right place & there was no malice & people could agree to disagree.
Perhaps have a break & then come back.

Kurri I've been here about 12 years and know your name. You won't know mine...I change it often.

I understand your points but the fact is that older MNrs need to stay to give their good advice.

It's your DUTY woman! Pull yourself together and get on with it!

Hey @kurrikurri. I’ve seen you around for the 10 years I’ve been here, although I’m mainly a quiet lurker. (Your name makes me think you’re Australian - are you? ). It’s sad when the old names leave - as has been said by pp, MN needs the balance that older wiser heads bring. (Not saying you’re old!). It’s been great seeing some old names on this thread - hello @hassled! You helped me with Amalfi coast travel advice years ago, and you’re a WW fan Smile

Bourdic · 19/02/2020 23:56

marashino it’s very small cf with MN and so extremely cliquey and tribalist. It gets incredibly personal and atm there is a passive aggressive thread all about being kind to posters which is basically a love in about who loves who most ( and carefully leaving out those not part of the in group) There is also a very exciting thread on ‘wolf whistles - good or bad? ( answer overwhelmingly good)

Ah Kurri I've been here over a decade so yes I recognise you :) Don't dereg, have a break and see if there's an improvement.
Maybe we need an old glimmers space.
If you do go I hope life is kind to you.

AlunWynsKnee · 20/02/2020 00:10

Gimmers
stupid autocorrect.

MirandaWest · 20/02/2020 00:10

I’ve been here for 16 years now although no grandchildren on the horizon so I’ll have to stay here.

I recognise your name KurriKurri and will miss your posts. Enjoy the world of non mumsnet Smile

FlibbertyGiblets · 20/02/2020 00:13

I'm liking Old Glimmers, our Alun. It has quite the ring, doncha think? Well done autocucumber!

Tiredmumno1 · 20/02/2020 00:16

The Old Glimmers of MN, I like it, you could be onto something there Wink

CrocodileFrock · 20/02/2020 00:21

I've namechanged too many times to be even remotely recognisable but remember your name from days gone by .My toddlers of yore are now heading for adulthood.

I think it's changed but will still be sorry to see you go.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/02/2020 00:24

Another who certainly knows your name - I've had a couple but have been around awhile.
Your age is only increasing at the same rate as everyone else's...Grin

I wonder if we should ask for a Shady Pines board for old timers who don't fancy GN?

Whether you totally go or not, best wishes. Thanks

emojisarentwords · 20/02/2020 00:26

Recognise your username, I've been here for a while but don't keep my username for long. I understand where you're coming from. Wish you all the best x

TanteRose · 20/02/2020 00:41

Maybe take a break?

One does need to look at MN these days in a different way, I think - but it is still fit for purpose (just!) Wink

It's not the same as the Very Old Days (I've been here 14ish years) but change is inevitable and yes, a reflection of how times have moved on...Flowers

DariaMorgendorffer · 20/02/2020 00:46

Recognise your name too. Sad to see you go! Yes, the site has changed, so much. Maybe (to echo others) a break will suffice? I've been here 13 years...many name changes. Have learned so much. But it all feels so different, particularly in the last 6 months.

ittooshallpass · 20/02/2020 00:48

I've been here for years. Lurking mostly. Definitely and old glimmer now. Be sad to see other old glimmers disappear. Understand why you want to go... maybe we should set up an old glimmers section for those who need somewhere else other than GN?

AlunWynsKnee · 20/02/2020 01:11

Tante how are things after the autumn weather event?

I shall pour autocorrect a large gin and call it cucumber.

TanteRose · 20/02/2020 01:14

Hiya Alun

you mean the tyhoons etc? Or the rugby?

anyhoo, all good here, thanks Smile Gin

Guineapigbridge · 20/02/2020 01:18

I've always liked your posts Kurrikurri. I've recently namechanged but have been here 14 years.
In terms of how its changed, I think posters are now more mean and more sensitive (bad combination).
