Rosacea

I have (I think) rosacea. The main problem area is my cheeks, especially my right cheek as the redness runs down to my neck. I'm wanting to find some sort of treatment and wondering what others have done? And did it get rid of your redness completely? I'd love to be able to go make up free some days but I'm so embarrassed about my skin right now. Also, I didn't realise flushing/blushing was a symptom. I started going bright red at secondary school quite often and now even I go red in most social situations, even when it's just a fairly normal conversation....did anyone else find this and did treatment help this? TIA

Do you sleep on your right side? If so use the most gentle washing stuff you can find. Also when it’s really bad I take an Antihistamine and some Ibruprofen or aspirin (I’m not a dr so don’t know why this works for me, so do your own research or ask your dr). Use a green colour corrector (erborian is very good). I also use an oil cleanser (origins clean energy at night to remove make up). Drink plenty of water, dehydration is bad for my skin and makes me very red, turned down the central heating helps too.

Alcohol makes it worse for me, do I don't drink a lot.
Antibiotics can help too.

Unfortunately there is nothing that will get rid of it but lots of things that can help calm it. Alcohol and spicy food can cause it to flare up so avoid those. Extremes in weather and central heating aggravate it too. Keep skin as moisturised as possible, don't use drying products. You can get antibiotic cream from your GP for flare ups and antibiotics if you get pustules/spotty. It's a horrible thing to have and can be very uncomfortable and sore, especially in the summer.

Weirdly I always read that sun makes it worse but I have a redness (which I assume is rosacea) that gets better in the sun. Makes me wonder if it’s different.

I've managed to all but cure mine by using CeraVe wash and cream and nothing else. I think I have been stripping my natural skin barrier with products all these years. I have the flushing not spotty type of rosacea. I'd say 95 % of the redness has gone now and a couple of people have commented on 'what beautiful skin I have' which has never happened before! Honestly,I can't rave enough about it and it's so cheap!

No alcohol and no sitting in direct sun and nothing more than tepid water really helps too.

I avoid warming alcohol, especially in situations where I feel anxious. So dinner with new people, big parties etc. are nights when I volunteer to drive. Heavy duty sun lotion and moisturiser with SPF of 15.

I wash with African black soap, which is actually soap free. It is slightly antibacterial (I have acne rosacea), slightly exfoliating and full of oil. My skin doesn’t feel dry or tight and it cleans well.

Some people suggest using light masks, but I haven’t used one.

I have the blistering type but it's not severe. Thing that help are: wearing sunscreen every day even in winter. Factor 50 if you can. I use sudocrem on it in a very thin layer overnight if it flares. I agree with the poster who said alcohol makes it worse (but I still drink). The one thing that made the blisters go completely and the redness fade was giving up dairy. I didn't notice the connection until I reintroduced some and within hours it was back, hot and blistering. I am now trying to remove it from my diet again.

Caroline Hirons was talking about this on Jo Whiley show during the week .
I think it was Tuesday night . I posted on Style and Beauty the next morning as I missed something .
It might be worth a listen .

Thank you for all the tips, I think some big lifestyle changes are in order! I do everything I shouldn't - drink more than I should Blush, love spicy food, definitely don't drink enough water, and constantly have the heating on! I already knew these were contributing factors but I suppose it's a case of weighing up the pros and cons. Oh to have naturally gorgeous skin Sad

Hello, is there any chance you could show me some before and after pictures of your results with CereVe? I've suffered with this condition since I was a child! Thank you 😊 @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor
