Dumb question about blinds - Help!

I've been trying to do a bit of baby proofing now that we have a toddler. I have put hooks up on most of the walls next to the blinds to secure the loop so there is no risk of strangulation.

We have blinds in the kitchen though and where I would normally drill is tiled. I am reluctant to drill into the tiles as I think there is a very good chance I would crack them. I have only just started using the drill and am not very good at it.

I thought I could shorten the blind cords (they are beaded plastic ones) but they are on a continuous loop with no connector. I could cut them and buy a connector, but I wouldn't have thought the connector would be able to go through the mechanism at the top of the blind.

Is there any solution to this other than seeing if I can get shorter blind cord loops? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I wouldn't drill into tile either. Maybe those stick-on hooks would work? I think they are called Tesa Powerstrips.

Is there any possibility of your DC actually getting to the blind ? (Thinking if mine above the sink ?

I've cut mine in the bedroom as the cat was getting tangled up in them and doesn't weigh enough for the breaking strain. You have to work out how far up the chain goes before the top mechanism

Hopefully not. It's above the sink and he'd have to climb onto a chair and then onto the counter, so not a risk yet and he is under supervision 99% of the time at the moment (which is why I've left it until now) but I know these things happen in situations where you wouldn't think they should and he might be able to get places he shouldn't as he gets older. I remember jumping around on tables when I was young.

There is a sad post on the bereavements board where a mother lost her daughter to a blind cord too.

If I can't think of anything else I might use stick on ones but I'm not sure how secure they are. I'd rather just have it so the blind cord finishes above the tile splash back and is drilled in there.

Use one of those stick on hooks on the tiles
