Quick questions about false lashes (salon/beautician applied)

  1. A lot seem to say you can’t wear mascara with them. I have one friend who does but interested in a slightly larger sample! Any tips or warnings?
  1. Do you definitely have to go back to get them removed or infilled after 2/3 weeks or can you leave them to wear off, or does that look completely noticeable and shit? Going away for a few days and interested in having them for the first time for the whole time I’m away, but maybe just as a one-off for now.

Also would be looking for something nice but not on a really big ‘going out out’ scale, hence the mascara question to go from day to night.

I realise these are probably very thick questions Blush

I wore a bit of mascara on mine also I let mine fall out without having anymore put in but they fell out quite quick and it was noticeable but only slightly as I wore mascara to try and cover it up x

You shouldn't really need mascara with them, plus having to take off the mascara would probably cause the lashes to come out quicker.

There is no way of making them look good once they are coming out, apart from going back and getting infills (or getting them removed completely I suppose). It's quite a look when you only have about 4 really long lashes left on each eye!

Also, my other tip is to go to someone who specialises in lashes (and maybe brows/nails as well). But not a 'beautician' who does everything like waxing, facials etc because they are usually not as good because they just don't get the practice.

I usually get mine done (which isn't that often) with a specific lady, but went and got them done at a spa once and it was a disaster!

mascara, depends on the style. russians no need
you can get them soaked off afterwards, takes around 10 mins. if you leave them to fall off it does look a bit patchy so best bet is either keep going for infills or removal. some will fall out pretty quick as it depends on how quick you naturally shed your lashes but a good salon this shouldnt be noticable. make sure you brush them with the brush provided and dont use harsh products on them , we recommended baby shampoo if needed
do not get them wet for 48 hours as this will dissolve the glue.
for the 1st time id say try the shorter ones, 7/8/9 upwards dont go straight to 11/12 ect

It’s really not advisable to put mascara on them unless you want to reduce the time they’ll stay on for drastically.

You won’t be able to get them clean With mascara on without removing them/possibly removing your natural lashes in the process.

You can’t use any oil products around the eyes. Do you have a place in mind to go to? Most lash tech’s are on Instagram these days, they’ll have examples of their work and different styles you can go for.

I used to have a very uniformed ‘cat eye’ type look that flared longer at the outer corner of my eye, more like the strip lashes can look. This looked really good/high impact when it was first done for about a week/2 weeks, but then you’d get natural fall out it disturbed the uniform pattern and was more noticeable. Now I go for a more whispy look with ‘spikes’ which are longer fans that haven’t been opened out so much to create texture and length. This looks a lot better for the whole duration until my next infill appointment.

Provided you don’t rub or use excessive force, keep them clean, and don’t use any heavy cream/oil products, and you go to a good lash tech who doesn’t overload each individual lash, your natural lashes won’t be damaged. You will get addicted to how it looks though! And a lot of people feel like it’s damaged their real eyelashes as they get used to having the extended look and once they’ve gone, you feel like you look bald. You won’t have, that’s just what your eyes have always looked like!

Excellent points about patchiness and not using stuff on them, thanks. I’d forgotten about that!

I quite like the idea of a bit of a cat eye look for something slightly dramatic/noticeable as I’m not too bothered about having them after my break / how long they last then, but at the same time I do want to look after them so they manage what they should be able to. Don’t want to waste them unnecessarily!

The friend who does use a bit of mascara has recommended someone on Instagram who does specifically say not to use mascara and has excellent reviews from various platforms, so I might see if she can get me in. Thanks for all the tips Smile

The not-getting-them-wet for the first 48 hours, though - what if you’re clumsy when showering?

you just have to be as careful as poss, a bit wont hurt, its more full on wet

dancemom · 19/02/2020 11:40

I get my natural lashes tinted at the same time as I have the false ones added so I don't need mascara

UhKevin · 19/02/2020 11:57

dancemom that’s a good idea.
