Help me decide what newspaper to read..

After the events over the weekend I've decided I need to look at what I read online and not succumb to click bait. Unfortunately I'm guilty of reading some of the trashy tabloids, but I've decided to look at my moral compass and stop reading them!

However I want to be kept up with the news and current affairs.. but what news outlet/paper do I read that's not contributing to a society that thinks its acceptable to annihilate a person.

Can anyone help me find somewhere I can read the news, without feeling bad?

I read the Financial Times, the Times, Private Eye and the Guardian. I listen to the Today Programme and PM on Radio 4.

I have been trying to make myself read the Telegraph more often to open myself up to viewpoints I might not agree with but more often find myself able to stomach the Spectator - don't often agree with either of them, or with much in the Guardian, but good to keep an open mind.

I get The Guardian and although it has it’s flaws I prefer those to the alternatives. It has a nice lightweight section in the middle for fun/further reading that helps with any trash cravings.

The Guardian and Channel 4 news

I read The Telegraph, The Times on a Saturday and The Spectator.

I read the Guardian and the Telegraph and the Independent through a newsfeed that my phone has built in (Google Pixel). I don't buy papers.

But I have no idea which newspapers lean which way. I just avoid the Daily Mail and any red top tabloids.

Sometimes a Metro but only when in London

Big fan of The Times, as I think it has the best columnists. It's broadly middle of the road/ slightly right- wing, but opposes Brexit and has writers from all sides of the political spectrum.

First News. Only half joking.

Lunaballoon · 17/02/2020 19:35

Another fan of The Times here. I would describe myself as middle of the road politically so it reflects my views and highlights my concerns.

I read the Guardian too but it can be too ‘woke’ sometimes. I didn’t see anything over the weekend, for instance, on the Harry Miller case, whereas The Times gave it front page coverage.

May I also recommend Consortium News? It's knee-deep, proper, investigative journalism.
