Dated today, smells like chicken, maybe a bit too much I don’t know, is it a funny colour? I’ve never coined a whole chicken before, I dont know

Looks odd to me but raw chicken makes me a bit queasy at the best of times.

I always come on and say yes to these posts but that chicken looks green. Does it not smell bad at those bits?

Mummiepig · 17/02/2020 08:51

Not really any smell no, just smells like chicken but a bit stronger, normally I but thighs and they smell of not much just smells like that bit a bit more IYSWIM

I'd bin it.

yellowallpaper · 17/02/2020 08:55

The green bits are old blood which has oxidised. It might wash off but your not supposed to wash chick. It should be ok. Cook it thoroughly and take it from there. I've cooked chicken like this before and it's been fine. Smell is more important.

Mummiepig · 17/02/2020 09:01

I’ve cut out that bit anyway because I’ve butterflyed it, it doesn’t smell bad, just different,

Been in the oven 20 minutes, no smell

No way. Don't eat it. Cooking it is not going to give you any sense of being ok, you won't get a smell.

It's discoloured & doesn't look right at all. Don't take chances with chicken.

Mummiepig · 17/02/2020 09:46

It’s nearly finished cooking, no smell at all, got son to smell it too, says he can’t smell anything

I eat many things past their date but even I don't mess around with chicken. I wouldn't eat that; the discoloured bits are not right.

Stefoscope · 17/02/2020 10:22

You'd know as soon as you unwrapped it if it was bad by the smell.

recordbox · 17/02/2020 10:27

What made you post and ask the question? That would be my reason not to eat it.

Mummiepig · 17/02/2020 10:44

I’ve just got the spine out the bin and smelled it and it smells ok, I’ve eaten a bit and I’ll see what happens
I’ve never cooked a whole chicken before, the colour was the reason I doubted it, not the smell
