Painful knees

Can anyone help me with my painful knees?

I've moved from a flat to a house and I have a toddler who I carry up and down the stairs.

I'm not overweight, I'm 37 and don't exercise much but lead a very very active life (work long hours on a ward, have three kids etc etc).

How do I help my knees?

Well, the obvious is to make the toddler walk!

Could be your knees need getting used to stairs.

Check to see if you have fallen arches - this can cause knee pain.

Supplements like cod liver oil and or Glucosamine might help.

Ask your GP for a referral to a physio to teach you some exercises.

Is there any reason your toddler can’t walk/Crawl/bump up and down the stairs?

Have you got really bouncy, thick, cushiony trainers to take the pressure off your knees when you walk. What do you feel is causing the pain?

Do your shoes fit properly?
When you walk up stairs, your knee should be aligned to move over your little toe, else your knees are turning inwards.
Can happen if your feet are collapsing- did they get larger when you were pregnant?

I had pain in my knees and was diagnosed with mild arthritis. I'd go to the docs and get it checked out.

Cod liver oil! I will get some, thanks.

The toddler is 13 months and whilst walking for a while is a bit wobbly on the stairs.

They don't just hurt on the stairs but I think that's what triggered the pain.

Look up 'runner's knee' and if it matches your pain, try the physio exercises.

It does sound very much like it could be runners knee.

It isn't a constant pain though, could it still be that?
