AirBnB

I have never used AirBnB previously but I'm currently looking at a property to rent for a holiday abroad.
should I be concerned that there are no reviews despite the owner being a host since 2018.
Does that mean he is likely to have more than one property?
I know that millions of people use AirBnB daily but I am so worried about it all going wrong.

I had this issue ages ago wanting to rent a property, through airbnb
Finally realised it was a scam when I asked for a viewing and they just said I had to pay deposit first, was totally wierd. I'd avoid but not everyone is like that but no reviews is a bit odd

Sounds very strange.

I only book with superhosts.

I have often stayed at places with no reviews as they are usually significantly cheaper.
But I rarely stay for more than 1 or 2 nights and we travel as a family.
I think if I put a new property to rent - it would show me as a member for donkey's years - but with no host reviews - can you see if they have reviews for staying at least?
I wouldn't immediately discount it but if it was for a holiday I would want to know my own travel insurance covered airbnb bookings. Also we once found a place that was horrifically dirty and our experience of complaining to AirBnb was really good and they resolved the problems and some hefty compensation back when the owner turned out to be useless.
That said I know lots of people worry a lot about the site and doing things independantly, and I usually advise those people to use a traditional holiday/villa company for their own ease of mind - its supposed to be a holiday!!!!

I presume they 'cleanse' their reviews occasionally by starting fresh, for instance we stayed in a lovely hillside house in Tuscany with very few reviews, but it only takes one review saying 'the WiFi is unreliable' and no bookings for them. Even though with stone walls that thick and in that area it would be a minor miracle. So don't assume they have had terrible reviews. Personally I use Booking.com but mostly so I don't have to pay straight away.

thanks all, I have decided to book a property through booking.com!
the guy came back to me when I queried the difference in price between the quote from the search to his invitation (almost double) and suggested a new amount per night that was still double what was originally quoted on airbnb - so no thanks!!
