Can I use granulated sugar in a mug cake?

I really want to make a chocolate mug cake but I either don't have any caster sugar, or I do but it's buried somewhere in a huge box of kitchen stuff (we have no kitchen at the moment). So can I use normal granulated sugar instead? It should work won't it?

Definitely!

It will be fine. Caster sugar works best in sponge cakes, but for a mug cake you won't be expecting to have a light fluffy texture.

It's just sugar the problem you may have is it may not dissolve into the mix and end up grainy.

Also, I think chocolate mug cakes are better with soft light brown sugar...

3 tbsp flour
3 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tbsp light brown sugar
Pinch of salt
Mix, then add
3 tbsp veg oil
3 tbsp water
Mix again, you can add a blob of Nutella or nut butter. Microwave for about 1m30s.

🤤

Melt the butter and melt the sugar into it first

Or use a blender to make caster sugar

It’s doesn’t really matter!

Totally fine, my dd often makes them with granulated sugar

Well I made it, got out the squirty cream I bought specially and the cream was all foamy and odd. Looked at the can and I've accidentally bought light cream Sad Bloody disgusting it was Envy ruined my pudding!
