What are your plans for half term with kids. I have teenage kids but they keep busy and have things to do. But I need to keep any 7 year old occupied out of the house.
Today we went library and dessert shop.
Anybody have ideas?
Also the rain Is putting a damper on the mood.

Well we only get next Thursday and Friday off so we can’t go far...we’re just going away for a night to a family friendly hotel in another city. And just generally taking it easy.

hhsa · 15/02/2020 19:12

If u dont mind. Which family friendly hotel?

Our half term is just finishing, I have 4 dc 14,9,6 and 5 we did the zoo, they went on a play date, an afternoon with granny, eldest went shopping and for lunch in Manchester with a friend, play centre, Trafford centre for lunch, cinema to see dolittle, one had a friend for a sleepover, drawing, baking, movie with popcorn...

Eldest hasn't done as much as usual as she has exams when she gets back so has had to revise.

Also have 2 teens and one 8 year old.
This week we are going to the cinema, the science museum and the going to see some family for a couple of days next weekend and will probably do something like a trampoline park or swimming. These are things we will and can all do together.
Other than that, the teens will entertain themselves either at home or going out with friends, the youngest will mainly hang around me being a pain in the arse not wanting to go out but not capable of doing anything without me Hmm
Okay, not strictly true, he does have quite a good ability to play alone for a while but when he gets bored he just attaches himself to me so I imagine the rest of my week when we aren’t out will involve lots of games, baking and park trips depending on the weather.

I like half terms to be a time to recharge & I suspect dd is coming down with the nasty cold i'm just getting over so we may not do much at all.

But if we fancy a day out things like trampoline park, lazer tag, cinema, swimming, look round the charity shop (warehouse sized local one) are things that my 3 dc enjoy (age 7, 9 & 11).

Might make some cakes tomorrow.

PhantomErik · 15/02/2020 21:18

Only mentioned indoor stuff due to the weather!

If the weather's good then walks on the beach to find shells/stones. The woods to find nice leaves & sticks to make pictures. Parks with picnics etc

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/02/2020 21:19

We are going to the Caravan & Camping show at the NEC.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/02/2020 21:22

Have you had a look at what's on at the cinema too? Our local ones have kids screenings which are about £1.50 per person. The local museum had activities for about a pound too.

HeyMicky · 15/02/2020 21:33

Cousins visited today
Cinema tomorrow
Ice skating lessons mon-wed while DH is on leave
Sports camp Thurs/Fri
Playdates for both Friday afternoon

Nowayorhighway · 15/02/2020 21:35

I use the app Hoop to find usually free or cheap activities in the local area. We’re also RSPB, National Trust and English Heritage members so save a packet with that. If the weathers good we’ll visit a local RSPB site and join in with nest building one day. Also planning on visiting local museums and art galleries as well as the library. We’re baking and doing crafts on Monday.

Nowayorhighway · 15/02/2020 21:37

Would do the cinema but there’s only Sonic on and it looks crap Grin.

feeona123 · 15/02/2020 21:39

Mine are 5 and 4, only one in school and the 2nd one at nursery 2 days so we are doing the following:

Monday - mini morning at cinema /usual gymnastics class
Tuesday - library for freebie drama session followed by food shop
Wednesday- Legoland (hoping it stays dry!!)
Thursday- free slime making at Hobbycraft
Friday- softplay, dentist and youngest’s gymnastics class

VenusTiger · 15/02/2020 21:42

Not much - indoor stuff, visit family, bake - I never feel pressured into "doing stuff" during school hols - and I hate it when people say "what are your plans for half term", like the hairdresser asked today - no offence OP - I know you're only after some ideas.
Keep it simple - cinema, swimming, shopping. Kids need to be bored sometimes, or just read a book.

SweetPeaPods · 15/02/2020 21:44

All full of cold here and weather forecast looks rubbish so probably mostly indoors, maybe catch up on some Christmas dvds (presents rather than Christmas films), Lego etc. Dc want to go bowling but I can imaging everything being busy if weather poor

brightbluesky · 15/02/2020 21:59

We are taking my daughter to the zoo on Monday. She has play scheme on tuesday and Thursday.

Wednesday we are going to dentist, hairdresser and park then lunch out.

Friday either library and park, swimming, or a farm visit.

She is an easily pleased child, she would go to the park over everything, every time, if given the choice.

She is five and an only child. X

Stravapalava · 15/02/2020 22:26

We are hoping to travel to visit a family member, but Storm Dennis might put paid to that! If we end up not going, it will be trampoline park, soft play, parks, swimming, maybe the zoo or national trust places and see who's around for a playdate.

hhsa · 16/02/2020 00:38

Thank u everyone for your lovely ideas. Checked cinema listings and Dolittle looks good.
