If your work offers enhanced mat pay, what is the package?

6 weeks at the 90% statutory SMP
20 weeks at Half pay (including SMP)
13 weeks SMP
(Accountancy firm)

My sister is a teacher she gets-
4 weeks full pay
2 weeks 90% pay
12 weeks half pay with SMP on top
11 weeks SMP only

My sisters friend gets 39 weeks full pay!!
She’s a patent lawyer

MoneyM · 13/02/2020 22:11

@UnleashTheFury Wow!! 39 weeks full pay is something else. I wonder what incentivises a company to be SO generous.

I’m a teacher and get what @UnleashTheFury has outlined.

SIL gets 6months full pay and 6 months half pay in the military

I'm a teacher and get the same as unleash

Crunchymum · 13/02/2020 22:15

18 weeks full pay, then SMP, then nowt for last 3 months.

Alarae · 13/02/2020 22:16

SMP plus 25% gross salary as a flexible 'pot' which can be used to top up SMP to 50%, 75% or 100% of gross weekly earnings.

I've flexed my payment over nine months (ignoring first six weeks at 90%) and will end up with about 70% of my usual net pay throughout the 33 weeks.

EmpressJewel · 13/02/2020 22:16

Higher education - 18 weeks full pay and 8 weeks half pay.

Robs20 · 13/02/2020 22:17

24 weeks full pay then 16 weeks SMP. I work for a law firm (and they are currently reviewing their policy as they think they are behind competitors)

Megan2018 · 13/02/2020 22:21

6 weeks full pay inc SMP
12 weeks half pay plus SMP
21 weeks SMP

Plus 33 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, so when added to mat leave gives an additional 8 weeks and 1 day paid leave.

I have taken 12 months off inclusive of the annual leave, so roighly 20 months actual mat leave and the rest as paid holiday.

My previous enployer was more generous unfortunately but I relocated so lost out on more full pay Sad

Megan2018 · 13/02/2020 22:23

*10 months!

thefraggleontherock · 13/02/2020 22:25

We get 26 weeks full pay and 13 SMP.

afrikat · 13/02/2020 22:26

6 months full pay
3 months half pay
3 months unpaid

Arms-length government body

Parkandride · 13/02/2020 22:30

3 months full
3 months half (made up to full if you return for 6 months, paid as a bonus)
3 months smp
3 months unpaid

FMCG sector

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 13/02/2020 22:30

Mine is pretty good for retail, just a shame I’m done having babies as it’s only just been introducedAngry it used to be
6weeks at 90%
SMP then until 39weeks
Nothing at all after 39weeks if you chose to take full 12 months off. Holiday was accrued as normal during Mat leave and they paid 60% upfront at start of mat leave then you could tag the remainder onto the end.

Now it’s 22weeks at full pay then SMP till 39 weeks then nothing but you have to opt in, which basically means that if you take that package you have to return to the company for a certain amount of time

otterses · 13/02/2020 22:37

6 weeks 90% pay
24 weeks 50% +SMP
9 weeks SMP
Anything further is unpaid.

Suspect this will change to 6 months full, 3 months half, 3 months unpaid when we merge with a competitor next year as per their policy.

floordrobey · 13/02/2020 22:42

13 weeks full pay
13 weeks half pay
The rest sat pay

Bombaybunty · 13/02/2020 22:49

I got 9 months on full pay. The package changed to a year full pay soon after I went back to work.
This was 15 years ago.

BrimfulofSasha · 14/02/2020 13:22

Just basic SMP here (large privately owned company)
When I had DD I was at a small Accountancy firm and I got the basic there.
Just about to start a new job and no idea what the policy is, I'm not planning to have more children, but they have won awards for being a good place to work and pension is very generous so I'd be surprised if it's just SMP.

HarrietM87 · 14/02/2020 13:26

City law firms standard seems to be 6 months full pay, 3 months statutory, 3 months unpaid. Sometimes with a bonus if you back earlier.

katsucurry · 14/02/2020 13:42

39 weeks full pay
13 weeks SMP
The rest of the year no pay.

Civil Service

peachgreen · 14/02/2020 13:54

6 months full, 3 months SMP, 3 months unpaid. And no requirement to pay it back if you leave after maternity, though I suspect that might be tightened up at some stage. Tech company.
