could you please recommend a cookbook that has everyday family food recipes and not poncy stuff that I don't have ingredients or time for!

Would love to learn to cook but some of the cookbooks I've glanced through just isnt what I will eat. I want good wholesome everyday normal family food that doesn't require travelling to some far fetched land.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Agree with the feed your family for £20 a week. I recently brought this and I get irritated with some recipie books calling for ingredients I wouldnt use much. This one has simple tasty recipes using ingredients that dont cost the earth and mostly cupboard/fridge staples.

Go to the library & borrow 5 cookery books

Then go into the children’s section and find the cookery books and borrow a few

Get them home and go through them picking out recipes you like that aren’t poncy

I’m absolutely loving Pinch of Nom at the moment and majority of the recipes are family friendly

@INeedANew 2cc are family friendly recipes, but some of the text may not be! They have a unique, cheeky style. They are SW friendly recipes but are all delicious. They are on Facebook if you want to have a look. They boys are great!

Pinch of non is my favourite at the moment.

Jamie’s Ministry, and when you’ve done his basic version from that, look at a few different versions of the same recipe in BBC good food to get some ideas for tweaking it to your own taste. Ocado also has a good recipe section on the website.
(The easy Jamie Mac & cheese in the ministry book is legendary amongst my kids’ friends. Most of whom would probably run a mile if they knew it had cauliflower in it)

Another one here who can't recommend 2 chubby cubs highly enough. Their meals are unique and interesting, without being too far out there. Also had the bonus of losing 4lbs the other week!

Agree that Delia is always reliable. I like Xanthe Clay's 'recipies to know by heart'. Her idea is that we all need a few basic recipies we can make easily, which sounds like what you are hoping for. It's quite old now so I just checked it was still available. You can easily buy a copy second hand as well as from Amazon.
