What bed time stories does your 2 year old enjoy?

My DS loves the Julia Donaldson books, Owl Babies, Tiger who Came to Tea, The Koala who Could, Bear Hunt.

He has such a huge selection of books but these are the ones he always asks for before bed. A bit fed up of reading the same ones over and over- so looking for some recommendations. What are we missing from our bed time story collection?

Thanks

Hairy Mcclairy series of books is a big favourite in my house.

I remember mine really enjoying counting books, word/ alphabet books etc. Sort of educational.
Agree that there will always be a ‘favourite’ that you read to death until it mysteriously disappears.....Wink!

Do you go to the library? Do they go to a nursery/pre0school/ You could ask them for suggestions.

Yes we go to the library once a week, if he chooses his own he loves flap books and sound books, but at night time loves a proper story.

Have a look at Booktrust.org.uk for age related best books for children. Great website.

Also:
Mr Men
Little red train books
Shirley Hughes books esp. the Alfie and Annie Rose stories
the That's not my ... books
Tiger who came to tea
Richard Scarry books- masses to look at and helped mine start to recognise words and numbers
Basic information books - Usbirne have a good selection
Rosie's walk

Can you tell our bookshelves are overflowing! Grin

We always do a differing rendition of Bear Hunt. Sometimes it's unicorn hunt, dragon hunt, mushu from Mulan is the current favourite Grin

Pip and posy stories are much loved here

The Eric Carle ones always go down well. He always enjoys the naffest ones too. Some of the cheapo ones he got as Christmas Pass The Parcel gifts have becoe firm favourites. I'm not too fussy about the quality at this stage as long as he is enjoying them and able to tell me about the story.

It varies. Currently it's anything to do with dinosaurs. His favourite that I read every night is say hello to the dinosaurs. It's short but he gets to make sounds and stomp like a dinosaur.
Previously it was anything thomas the tank engine.
I usually go hunting in the works when their 5 for £5 offer is on and pick up a handful of books.
