I appear to have a UTI. Been bubbling the last few days so went and saw my GP today who has prescribed some gunpowder antibiotics (Nitofuratoin) to be taken twice a day for 3 days.

In the meantime, how can I ease the feeling my fanjo is burning :(

I'm drinking sugar free vimto and peeing as soon as I feel the urge.

Sit in a bath with bread soda added to the water.

@JaneJeffer Sadly, I';m at work - forgot to add that to my OP. Am going to nip out at lunch and get my prescription and hopefully they will kick in sooner rather than later

I added bicarbonate of soda to some orange squash it seemed to stop the burning sensation.

Ah, I don't know if any on the go solution except maybe Sudocrem.

cjt110 · 12/02/2020 11:48

Hmmm bicarb. Could get some. And some sudocrem...

Last resort is a pot of bloody yogurt

Guessing some cystitis sachets are pointless?

When I used to get recurrent infections I would just drink as much water as I could tolerate and it seemed to help. It’s counter intuitive because your instinct is to limit how much you need to pee but somehow diluting it and flushing it out of the system always seemed to help me and the drugs of course, get that prescription and get them started ASAP. It’s bloody miserable OP so I feel for you

D-mannose (available online or at some health-supplement type shops) is amazing if you can get some quickly enough, otherwise I just drink a lot of water and take paracetamol. Massive sympathy, UTI's are miserable but the D-mannose really works, I rarely suffer with them these days but one dose sees it off at the first tingle Smile

Cystopurin are the only cystitis sachets worth having - they work for me very quickly. You can also buy (on Amazon) tablets called Azo which work purely to ease the pain of a UTI, but they will dye your wee the most startling shade of orange. For prevention, take a D-mannose capsule every day. it's the active ingredient in cranberry and has worked absolute wonders for me.
