How to cover school wraparound?

I have gone back to work recently, all good.
However, need to work on the childcare side of it!
After school club is £16 per child and there are two children. I was only planning to leave them there till five which makes it really not worth it.

Anyone do it cunningly?

My work is totally flexible.

I have so far thought:
After school club, but leave them there till six to get money’s worth but I don’t really want to do this.
Breakfast club instead.
Try and organise a regular play date on the day one child has a club straight after school.
Ask if I can work from home 1 day a week to save commute time. Maybe attempt to work another half hour when they’re home if they’ll watch tv.
See about a child minder instead.

Anything else I’ve missed?

Forgot to mention that I use a childminder for 3 days a week (on the days I can't do pick up. Dd is also contracted to go there 3 days a week in the school holidays. in half terms I tend to have 2 days off a week, or try to compress my hours as I really begrudge paying any more!

I drop off to breakfast club.

DH was headhunted and managed to change his hours to finish in time for school pick up, so we don't need to use any after school provision.

Is there an external after school club? I often see one picking up children at my school. Then at least DC won't be in the school for 9+ hours every day.

Does the school run extra curricular clubs they could attend? These are often cheaper than the care clubs schools offer.

I agree with the childminder suggestion, especially if you'll need half-term / holiday childcare.
