So DS has a project each term. Due in tomorrow. For lots of reasons, this has passed us both by and now need to help him (age 7 so guidance needed) to put something together for tomorrow. Need to have three elements... literacy, numeracy and religion. Subject is NOTES?!?!?!

Any help really appreciated Flowers

The 10 commandments. They were notes from God, weren't they?

Bigearringsbigsmile · 11/02/2020 17:23

Notes? Wtf?
What did the brief say?

Lastminutemumdotcom · 11/02/2020 17:24

Squeaver... love this idea!

Earrings... exactly. I try to be imaginative but common this is hard for a 7 year old!

Musical notes?

Bigearringsbigsmile · 11/02/2020 17:26

Do the three elements have to be the same iyswim? Or can they be different?

Lastminutemumdotcom · 11/02/2020 17:29

All can be different

10 commandments seems a genius idea.

How about the 10 things he'd tell the world or his school to do to make life better, and what long lasting material he'd put those things on?

Print off some ten commandment pictures and make a quick collage, Photo of him with his list and job's done.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 11/02/2020 17:34

Right....have you some envelopes?

Numeracy.... bank notes. Do some maths about what bank notes there are, different ways to add notes to make say £100

Put it in an envelope.

Write a little letter as if you were jesus telling his disciples to give money to the poor and how important it is.
Put it in an envelope.

Write a little story describing a trip to a toy shop to spend the £100 you talked about in the first envelope

Write something about

Bigearringsbigsmile · 11/02/2020 17:35

Ignore that last bit. Mistake.

RainbowCake · 11/02/2020 17:36

The 10 commandments is a great Idea and tricks the box for literacy and religion, I would get him to write modern versions of the commandments.

For numeracy could you do something like revision notes for properties of 3d shapes in table form?
Have a look at twinkl for ideas.

Good luck!

RaininSummer · 11/02/2020 17:38

Clever ideas. Could you make the box from a net which would count as numeracy wouldn't it?

Clymene · 11/02/2020 17:38

Doesn't 10 commandments cover numeracy as well? He could do Roman numerals as they have to learn those at some point if 1-10 is a bit easy

Lastminutemumdotcom · 11/02/2020 17:39

Oh you lot! Thanks so much Smile

No way I'd ever do my kids homework!

Bluetrews25 · 11/02/2020 17:49

Monopoly money? Better than using your fivers.
Complicated stories have foot notes at the bottom of the page to explain what is really going on.
Could he make up a 'summary' or explanation to The Magic Key (or whatever Biff Chip and Kipper are called?)

custardbear · 11/02/2020 17:51

Dead Sea scrolls .. then you get get the rolling pin out, attach paper you've dipped in tea to make it old and they're worth a fortune too 😆

Bluetrews25 · 11/02/2020 17:53

Notes make lists
Shopping list - receipt - is a note of your groceries
Write the word, draw it, put the cost
Total up the cost
Work out the change?
Month's worth of shopping?
Add in take outs?

Projects get better marks when they have a shed load of art work in them.

NotReve · 11/02/2020 17:59

Something to do with music notes? Research and write about the importance of music in different religions. Do some maths to work out how many notes are in a song/hymn...

Han1213 · 11/02/2020 18:02

Pick a month of the year and print off a calendar page. Write a positive note fir each day ‘Smile at someone’, ‘play with someone new’, ‘try something new’ Days, months and date cover numeracy, notes cover literacy and ‘good deeds’ could cover RE

WarmSausageTea · 11/02/2020 18:05

No way I'd ever do my kids homework!

All that halo polishing must be very time-consuming.

TheletterZ · 11/02/2020 18:08

Printable bank notes: www.activityvillage.co.uk/play-money

You write some keywords on post it notes and then he has to write a story to link them.

You already have religion covered now.

DuesToTheDirt · 11/02/2020 18:24

Wow, that's a stupid project - absolutely impossible for a 7 year old to do without massive parental help (and therefore IMO stupid).

itsgettingweird · 11/02/2020 18:25

Was going to suggest the calendar idea! We have one on our well-being board at work.

theluckiest · 11/02/2020 18:34

Christ, I'm a Y2 teacher and this sounds like the most random, uninspiring topic I've ever heard of!! Surely topic homework should inspire the children to love a topic or follow their own area of interest?!

I also hate 'topic' homework btw. As a parent, I've been there more times than I care to remember, near-crying with frustration & panic over some forgotten-about project due in the next day Confused

You lot are very good at ideas though...

scrappydappydoo · 11/02/2020 18:39

Sympathies op - my 7yr old had a similar vague project. ‘To creatively explore stewardship’
Some good ideas here...
