Period due tomorrow and stabbing pain in right ovary

I’m 42 and my period cycles have been pretty regular since I went on thyroid medication a few years ago, although the last few cycles have been a bit longer.

I’m due on tomorrow and have all the symptoms - boobs like bricks, bloated etc,

Tonight I’m having breathtakingly painful stabbing pains every few minutes in approx right ovary area. Any ideas what it might be? It comes in waves and lasts for 1-2 seconds at a time. It definitely doesn’t feel like anything to do with digestion or muscles.

It’s about level with my c section scar but further along towards my right hip, if that’s any help.

And definitely not pregnant!

I am in my forties and on thyroxine too. The last few months I have had that pain too (just like ovulation pain) a day before my period.
Usually my right side too..

When I had pain like that, but left side, it was an ovarian cyst. It used to flare up around ovulation and just before / first few days of period. A really sharp, breathtaking pain that often had me dropping to the ground and unable to move. I had it removed, eventually, after much delay to keep having it scanned to see if it disappeared. Once the post op pain had gone it's been fine.

Thanks both. My gut instinct is saying cyst too. I’ll go see my gynae next week (am not currently living in the UK and grateful for it at times like this!).

Could also be surgical adhesions from your c section. I have had pelvic surgery too and get ‘stabby’ pains occasionally. Definitely best to get it checked out though and scanned for a cyst especially if it continues.

My pain like that is also from adhesions from my c section. I did also get scanned to check it wasn't anything else.
