How do you put up guests without a spare room?

Just wondering? 3 bed house with 2 DCs. Looked at sofa beds but even spending
££££ they're not as soft (and we don't have ££££!). I was thinking of a day bed in one DC's room, then they could share with their sibling? Or an airbed in lounge? Do guests hate airbeds..?

I'm hoping someone will have a genius idea that hadn't occured to me Grin

It is small and it's not a house.

DS1 has a double bed in his room. He’s 7 so is still enchanted to have a blow up mattress on our floor if someone’s staying. If there were more people coming we might bring DS2 into our bed (he’s 3) and free up his single bed too.

My ds has a single bed from IKEA which can be made into a double bed for guests.

We used to have a sofa bed in a large hall like space we took advantage of. We would use that and guests usually close friends in our room all clean bedding etc. If children came either an air bed on the floor with the parents in our room or in with one of ours if wished.

Wow, thank you, so many ideas!

Our local travelodge does do £30 rooms, so we'll probably use this for older visiting parents. Otherwise we'll find an airbed, and get DC a bed which can convert to a double

Will eventually get a sofabed after cats have destroyed our current sofa

We put guests in the shed!
It's dh's man cave, fully lined, electrics and a sofa bed and with a fan heater it is toastie~!!!
Our house is full... 6 adults in a smallish 4 bed and depending on the guests... my Mum gets DS2's little room, he has the sofa or comes into our room on a camp bed (he's an adult but pitches up cheerfully). Brother usually has a sofa, but we recently had guests for a month and the my son's MIL to be, refused to kick us out of our room and she went in the shed ...and slept better than she has in years as peaceful, warm and private!

(It is a very nice large warm shed!)

One other idea, which is not cheap is a campervan.

SOmeone I worked with had parents who owned a campervan would bring it when they visited and se it as their bedroom.

Obviously if your guests don't own one then hiring is expensive but it's another option.

As is older children / teens in a tent in the back garden.
